I think you might be over-rating Mitch a tad. He had a pretty good season last year but he's still a fair way behind Jeremy. It's pretty hard to assess him fairly because he is in amongst arguably the best forward line in the comp and he is far from Adelaide's best forward. Would he have been as good in a weaker forward line? Is he future All Australian material like his brother or has he just looked good beside Walker, Betts, Lynch and Jenkins?Blakely has been good but McGovern has been better. IMO Mitch has more upside too - watch him become as good if not better than Jeremy.
Agree to disagree here. Mitch was a much more obvious choice, especially after missing Jeremy and seeing how capable Jeremy had become. Missing Mitch was like making the same mistake twice.
I think we'll learn a lot more about both Blakely and Mitch McGovern this year. Both are good players and both are capable of taking another big step forward but the opposition also knows a lot more about them now than they did 12 months ago. Hopefully Blakely will be amongst one of the best midfields in the comp (ie Fyfe, Neale, Mundy, Hills, Bennell are all fit) this season and get every opportunity to become the gun complete inside mid he appears capable of.
