Is it possible to have a fair academy system?
Will the multicultural and indigenous academies help to balance out the competitive advantage of the northern academies?
I like the idea of restricting access of top 8 teams. I also like the idea of not applying a discount for matched bids. I don't like the idea of restricting any team from a father-son pick. There's been a loss of sentiment throughout the league, but seeing a father-son pick run around for their team is bloody terrific for the sport, and is the last flickering light of the romance candle burning in the AFL.

I don't follow NFL but I believe that the punters only perform for less than 5% of the game? I'd say Max would be perfectly suited if that's the case.

Every club has a few troublemakers but that club around that time was an absolute cesspool of wrong that has cost many young men their futures as older men in the club and local media let them run riot and kept it all quiet so they could get their...cough...tainted...cough...cup.

I said at the time that if I had a son that was drafted by the Eagles, I would have done everything I could to stop him going to that club.
I have to say I nearly vomited when Nesbitt claimed he would give back the 2006 premiership cup if it meant the affected players could be "fit and well". Apparently the Eagles CEO was the only person in Perth who didn't know his players were running amok on illicit drugs. Cousins, Fletcher, Chick, Kerr, Mainwaring, Hunter, Sharp - the list of casualties is long and the human cost astronomical.
The Eagles hierarchy would have us believe that the didn't know what was happening. It beggars belief.

Max Duffy performed with arrogance and delivery on his debut; I would love to play a first game like that in the AFL. He was unlucky to be given almost no attention after a two goal first match. Hope he makes some good money and a cool lifestyle over in the US. Used to think he was a dickhead but he's an okay guy and it'd be cool to see him do okay over there.

I think you'll find Ross has lamented the players Pavcentric approach to inside 50 delivery for some time.

Even without the personnel, forward structures can be easily jigged to share the load - fingers crossed for 2017.
That is something Ross can rectify though. Get them to kick it to Taberner. Develop another option. I am not saying he had the pieces to construct a lethal forward line because obviously there wasn't. But there were other options apart from kick it to Pav.
I think the club ruled a line through the season reasonably early last year, and this year we will see a very different forward entry strategy (obviously).

Lyon has said almost exactly that,more than once.
Tabs has regularly worked his way into space only to see it sail over his head aimed at Pav.
Didn't notice it so much with Yarran where I guess his explosive speed and leading patterns made them more likely to be honoured.

Daniel Aynsley Hey Ross, with the disappointing year last year we found out how good some new up and coming players are, particularly Lachie Weller and Connor Blakely, how do you see them fitting in to the side for 2017 ?
Lachie Weller finished off the year at half back and gave us great run and distribution across half back. Connor Blakely is having a strong summer as a big inside mid.
Max Bird Hey Ross, how is last years draftee, Harley Balic shaping up this pre-season, a chance for senior action this year?
Giving himself every opportunity. He's a really hard trainer and settling well into Perth.
Dongquan Van Nguyen How will the team adjust to not having Matthew Pavlich in the side for the first time in a long time?
Matthew drew the ball consistently so there'll be more opportunity for everybody without him there
Gabriel Grossman Hi Ross, There's a lot of interest in Harley Bennell this preseason. I think he will add a lot to the side once fit. Do you see him being ready for round 1 at this stage and is your plan to play him mostly in the midfield?
He won't be available for round one but his rehab is progressing well, particularly post Germany. We expect to see him, if all goes to plan, in the early rounds.
Steph Patino Hi Ross will the number 29 be retired forever? Also is David Mundy still captain!
That decision (retiring number 29) is above my station.
Liam Romaro When is the leadership group going to be announced for this season?
Is Walters a chance for surprise captain? (This gets a thumbs up facebook like)
