Preview by SEN breakfast team. Hard to make predictions before we even play a preseason game given even they recognise that we have transitioned from a list with the 3rd fewest players aged 21-24 to this year equal first of all the Clubs with 18 players in that range. With near on half the list in that age group, we're very unpredictable I feel but I am bullish that the quality that we've recruited since 2014 combined with the recent trades sets us up for a better tilt at it and hopefully a quicker turn around than when we last overhauled the list from 2008. Fascinating season ahead of us.

I believe we a targeting a premiership in 3 or 4 years. We need to continue the good work and get a few more A graders into our side even if it costs us multiple 1st round picks.

What are your thoughts on who we could target, what we need?

Trying to think if there are any West Aussies worth looking at targeting? Can't see any A grade Vic making the move over to WA.

If we expect to be challenging within 3-4 years it's perhaps too late for us to draft and develop a KPF in that timeframe. So we're either confident Tabs/Ape/McCarthy/Kersten will become an above average/good forward line or we'll be needing to trade a KPF in...... But I can't think of any likely players.

Premiership forward lines don't need to be amazing, just productive with what they get when the ball comes in to the 50. Ours has sufficient potential. It's the midfield that matters. We have Fyfe, the hills, Neale, and some young'uns like Tucker, Langdon, Blakely and Weller who can be really good second tier. We just need Bennell working and on the field and preferably another of that level to cut it with the best.

Let's be honest - we have one definite A grade forward and that's Sonny.

Cam Mac was an early draft pick for a reason and if he get's close to his potential he'll kick a lot of goals for us. Ballas is a former All Australian so we know he can play. Tabs is still developing but has shown enough to prove his is capable of having an impact at AFL level.

The Ape may not kick bags but he will make blokes look over their shoulder when he's around. Kersten played the majority of last season in the seniors for the Cats. We have mids that can kick goals.

How does our goal scoring potential look? Not too bad I reckon. And as Big Animal says our midfield should get enough of the ball for them to get decent supply.

Mick the Ape is a contesting machine;he halves contests for breakfast, spoils, brings the ball to ground or marks it.
His inclusion will add decades to the careers of D.Pearce and N.Suban.

Another A Grader in any position would be great. Jack Martin in 3-4 year.

I am thinking someone of the quality of Shaun Burgoyne. To win premierships, you need A Graders, ideally someone with speed and brilliant skills

David Swallow is the one I would target, and I would play him at half back.

Came across this report on Fyfe by Nick Rynne in the West - what the hell is this guy getting at?
"The decision to rest him last season may have had more behind it than simply a desire to let his broken leg heal fully, but it appears to have worked after all."

Can't work it out unless it's meant to be a swipe about tanking. No logical person wanted to see Fyfe back last season after his second broken leg.

Certainly wouldn't spend much time trying to work out if the prat means anything by it,but Fyfe did have back/groin/shoulder niggles/issues from memory.
He's saying now the rest has seen them all settle.

Ah, thanks. I hadn't realised Fyfe had any niggles of note - at least any more than what any player carries. I thought the decision not to bring him back mid season was about removing the plate from his leg.

or a conspiracy theory on leadership group tensions?

I'm going to be charitable, and assume he's referring to the back problem that Fyfe reportedly will need to manage for the rest of his career. But the fact he's written "after all" certainly insinuates something else. Petty and embarrassing.

Nick Rynne is good people. Actually knows what he's on about. Of course he's referring to keeping Fyfe in cotton wool for next season - I didn't think there was any question that that's what we did? It's just sensible management.

Nope - he is a douche bag

Ashley Browne speculating Rosich would be a perfect fit at Hawthorn as CEO...Do we get a draft pick for him?

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-02-28/lethlean-to-replace-evans-freo-ceo-to-hawks

As impressive as Evans is and despite his strong Hawthorn pedigree, that hard-core project management experience might have counted against him. So if you're handicapping the field to be the next Hawthorn chief executive, why not start with Steve Rosich?

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-02-28/lethlean-to-replace-evans-freo-ceo-to-hawks

Cue 2020 and Hawthorns new colours being Cerise and Turquoise!

Article is nothing more than clickbait speculation.
Rosich was asked about this recently and denied it, for what that's worth.
Doesn't he have business interests in WA??

Was talked about on 6pr this morning and confirmed by Basil:

Under the new rights agreement Foxtel are permitted to nominate 6 games total for both WA and SA teams that Channel 7 must show on "significant delay".

"Significant Delay" means: 2 hours and 45 minutes.

There are 3 Eagles and 3 Dockers games, all away games, that they have picked.

I can remember two of ours.

Round 4 v Melbourne
Round 21 v Sydney

I think the other one was Round 8 v Richmond.

So unless you have Fox or Live Pass no live footy for these games for you!
