Bump!

As much as it loathed me to spruik that over commercialised sphincter of a station, this is a damn fine deal.

Got my auto-rollover mship diff refunded too while I signed up my lady friend.
I never made use of my cats shop voucher last year, and this years scarf looks a tad on the poxy side (also, whotf needs eleven friggin scarves??!) so this goes some way to...er...doing somethin blah blah.

(The first ten mins of last years prelim tested me a lil)

I called and waited about 25 mins to get thru... from LA...

No international priority here.

But they will be open on the phones till 7 pm Melb time they said.

Worth a shot but im sure its only for non existing members.

I called... on hold for ages. Then the delightful girl said no probs and helped me straight away.

I'm on the monthly payments.. so I don't have a payment next month and only 10 bucks in May.

Then cheaper going forwards as well

I think I might have caused a crisis for the membership department with my post...

The original post on SEN's facebook page has 29 comments and 4 shares.

My post on GFCSP has reached 15,000 people, with 288 comments (varying from ecstatic to furious) and 26 shares.

This promotion certainly wasn't designed to be widely shared on social media like I've done. When I called a few minutes before posting I spoke to someone instantly - everyone I've spoken to since has told me they waited on hold for 10-30 minutes! Somehow I think they might be a little understaffed to handle this today

Have no problem with those yet to register jumping on this deal. Seemingy the club has provided/supported this promotion to spark a spike in memberships.

But does seems quite incredible that you can now change your monetary arrangements with the club for a membership you have already purchased.

That appears to me to be simply taking money back from the club.

I understand that many of us who are interstate or overseas basically 'donate' our membership funds every year. So getting a reduction can seem like a great result.

However, it simply reduces the revenue outcome for the GFC on money we had already prepared and planned to hand over to support the club.

Each to their own. I know. And I am well aware that the club is far from virtuous in all its dealings with the supporter base. Some will say they 'had this coming' for the unhelpful ways they've dealt with members (or prospective members) in the past.

But I imagine they will be fairly disappointed with the uncomfortable reality that pre-existing financial commitments by members are going to be waived in what appears to be a clear hit to the club's finances.
