I think it doesn’t hurt to recruit pace and skill. He can come in and play early on in the year I feel and I think he’d slot well into a hbf. He doesn’t play an intercepting role so it doesn’t affect Howe and co. Can realease Maynard further up the field too. He can also go forward where he has kicked goals.

I’d was very keen on Fogarty early on in the year and would still be happy to take him I just think there are a few more question marks on his game compare to Coffield.

I’m trying not to get too attached to any player this year because I know Hine will recruit someone we weren’t expecting haha.
If Fogarty is a slider, seems a perfect Hine recruitment player.

I’m not sure if he’s quite a slider, I think there were a few people hyping him up but most had him in that 5-10 range. I’m not sure either if he’s quite a Hine pick either. He generally rates a kid that is projected as a late first rounder by most. Hard to pick this year because it’s so even.

I’m all over Fogarty like a rash. Just screams he’ll be a player much like Petracca did.

I know a lot of you are right into Coffield. Please convince me. From his highlights (only) seems like he fills one of only two positions on the ground we have a plethora of players in already? (Eg med def/mid)

Not writing him off just wanna know why he floats your boat?
Curious what makes you think he screams ‘player’ like Petracca? He was good last year and average this year but injured. Petracca was consistently amazing for two years. I’m baffled still by St Kilda decision to overlook him at pick 1.

How much growth or up side is in him.

He’s well developed already. His scope of improvement could be a lot less than a lot of the other kids around the 10. That said, he’s got a lot to prove after a quiet champs. He also needs to develop a position. Once he does that he can really shine imo.

Funny how they picked a KPF but Petracca is just as good as one. I feel for McCartin because of his concussions but yeah I think the saints would be kicking themselves deep down.

The injury would have held him back l would have thought. I am going off what people like your good self and vid’s have provided, so to me he looks and sound pretty good for 6 with Coffield the only other one in the picture.
Just wish we had another couple of picks, cause l like balta as well

Think they were scared off by his ACL. Sure Fog doesn’t have that excuse, but don’t think a sophomore slump is reason enough to throw the baby out with the bath water. TBH I mean it more in the way they play though (if comparing both at their best). They just command the footy and the ground opens up in front of them.

It definitely hampered him but kids play with injuries through the year. His body language through the champs was poor. So makes me wonder about his mentality. I understand it’s very frustrating and the pressure was on but if he wasn’t right he probably shouldn’t have played.

Anyway, definitely both would be happy with either. Hopefully we can get back into the second round and we might have a slight chance of getting Balta on the slide.

Petracca’s ACL was in his first year at Melbourne.

Oops it was too. Oh well the final statement in my post still rings true.

The way the game is going with medium sized forwards and Pies potentially getting Lynch I think FOG is the best forward option.
I was also interested to hear the SA U18's coach say he can be really damaging off half back with his kicking skills.

He did his acl after he was drafted. Petracca was amazingly dominant in his draft year.

Can anyone cite me a time that any state coach, under 18’s coach, recruiter ever said “this ones a dud”?
Every player up for drafting is pumped up by the industry to be the next GA jnr.

Well first, consider our win/loss splits when the only midfielder in our side with the combination of pace and elite kicking*, i.e. Daniel Wells, actually played.

Then consider that it’s not far from half-back to a wing/outside mid role.

If we really want Lynch next year to pair up with Moore, better get someone other than Pendlebury and Wells, who may only have a few years left, to deliver them the ball.

*Ok, maybe WHE but he doesn’t get enough ball at this stage.

Yeah I can dig that. Another elite i50 machine would not go astray at all. Even Lynch would struggle with our wormburner and haircut entries.

The only concern I remember was that his dominance might have been partly due to his size, which wouldn't be such a factor in the AFL. Doesn't really stand up to scrutiny though when they used the pick to draft a large, potato-like, key forward

Coff can literally play anywhere. Booted four goals in a game earlier in the year. Can play inside or out, half back, half forward. Does it all well.

He's got that 'Pendlebury time stop' where he glides around the field but unlike Pendlebury has a 2.92 20m sprint!

I keep hearing the medium defender thing about Coffield. All I see is a guy who'll set us up off half back and give us a combo of distribution and drive no other player gives us. His transitional play will help our ball movement immensely. And that is most definitely an area of need. I can't help but think a few are getting caught up too much in his height of 190cm. Ironically I reckon if he were 186cm he'd be more palatable to many.

Its CRITICAL that we get Pick 6 right. I change who I want by the day. But for me its one of: Brander, Coffield, Fogarty or Balta.

Outside of the first round I am super interested in Ed Richards and Harrison Petty. I hope that we can trade ourselves into a position to pick up these two.

I think that Darcy may be working out a way to stay in Adelaide and that #10 they now have, may well keep him there.

Coffield may be seen to be a bit of a risk given he hadn't been used as a mid for a large part of the year, but this guy has the right tricks for the game.
Wouldn't be unhappy should Carlton take him at #3.

Is Rayner the one you guys want?

I think Brayshaw is the bloke you should take personally. Would add to your midfield quite nicely.
