If Fogarty is a slider, seems a perfect Hine recruitment player.
If one of Fogarty , Mini Pendlebury or Stephenson are still available at 6 , we take one of those yeah ?. Keep it simple take take the best talent available. If Coffield ends up 3/4 the player pendllebury is what a steal.

To me it’s between Coffield or Fogarty, depends which they think has more upside.
Would love have another top pick later on as well, hoping Hine can get one.

It may come down to which is still available. Are we taking say a Rayner if available or would you still prefer one of the other 2

Rayner is one l have not given to much thought to, as l reckon it’s a given that he will not be there at 6. If he is then that’s a whole different question.

Apparently GWS were very keen with one of their picks after our 5.
No they weren’t. We were linked with Pickett at 5 and then GWS went at 4 to get him before us. JDG was rated outside the top 10 until a week or 2 before the draft. He then got linked to us at 5 and Geelong at 10.

He was in the 10-20 range most of the year. Like Apex said Geelong were keen at 10 and also heard Essendon were pretty keen with one of their later first rounders.
So what you're telling me is we should be looking around the 10-15th rated players and choose one from there! Balta it is!

Lucky BF didn't have the final say, otherwise we would have Langford or Laverde.
Also why we shouldn't go into meltdown when we don't select Coffield.
That's because people like Cal Twomey on Trade Radio spend the entire 2 weeks saying we should be taking a player like this. He has been much less opinionated on who takes who the last couple of years I reckon.

And the fact nearly everyone is basing it off a 2 minute highlight video. From memory JDG's wasn't all that flashy, lots of lead up half forward work.

Just checked Twomey’s phantom form guide from October 2014. He had JDG at 13. Wright at 5. Laverde at 8. Lamb at 15.

Everyone goes on about how good he is, but really he has as much idea as any of us.

Yeah, from what I've read I don't rate his lists all that highly. He's good when someone calls up Trade Radio and asks about players, because he knows them off the top of his head, but otherwise I find his power rankings to be very safe.

Slightly off topic, but JDG is the only one of the 2014 top 10 who has reached 50 games so far. Moore is on 47. Assuming wikipedia is correct.
It makes Maynard's 51 all the more impressive! Aside from the strange selection of Goodyear it has proven to be a bumper draft for us.

Whilst I'd love for us to go with Balta at 6, it seems more likely that we'll be a bit more conservative and see who slides out of that top 5. Not super keen on the Fog but there's a lot to like about Coffield. Quick and tall with good ball use is the right combination for a team sorely needing an influx of talent.

If we were looking to trade down into the 10-20 range I hope we'd look at the likes of Balta, Clavarino or Naughhton as KPPs. Also hoping that we can get Petty
