Hey guys, just wanted to touch base from a fantasy footy perspective - assuming Currie would be named in place of Witts this week? What has happened to Nicholls?

At the moment, he is injured for 2 weeks, but overall, Witts is close to leading our BnF and he has been keeping Tommy Nicholls out of the team.

Think Brodie will be a player guys? Seems to get lots of touches each week but rarely in the best? I like the fact they have kept him in the NEAFL largely as I always felt he might take some time to develop. Seems to be becoming more of an accumulator but is he doing the damage on a regular basis? FWIW I'm rooting for the Suns in general as I love watching 2MP, Lynch and May. If you guys can get an upgrade on couple of hard tough mids I think you could quickly be an AFL force. Brodie looks the part? Gut feeling do you guys think he'll come on?
Has all the makings of being a midfield workhorse in the vein of a David Mundy, but needs to improve in a few areas. Kicking can be a bit suspect and his defensive work rate needs to improve to be a AFL level midfielder

Hoping to be there tomorrow but it's not locked in. Be interesting to watch Deledio and Hopper running around for The AFL Pet Team.
A 17 yo Academy kid Dawson from Burleigh Bombers beat Hooper head to head and won the NEAFL Rising Star award. 24 Disposals 7 tackles.
I'm really encouraged about our kids coming through. Brodie Scrimshaw Ainsworth Spencer Sheer Bowes Joyce Dawson etc.

I've had a little to do with young Jacob , hope he gets drafted at the end of the year , not sure it will be at the Suns though , he reminds me of a fiorini type , one that has a uncanny knack of finding the pill.

Do you think that if we do get him it would have to be in the rookie draft?

If Spencer and/or Dmac get an upgrade hopefully there is room for 2 academy kids to be added to the rookie list

Just on Dmac, does he need to be upgraded or delisted this year? Second year on the rookie list so i think he can't have a third. Big last month for him.

I thought it was 3 years on the rookie list. I would retain him, but I wouldn't upgrade him tbh.
Hope you're right, i agree he should be retained but sadly with his height and lack of real pace it's hard to see his place in the team long term unless his skills improved dramatically to become a Caleb Daniel clone.

Although Dawson is originally from Burleigh (like Crossley), he has spent the last two seasons playing for Palm Beach at both club and school level when not called up for the Suns reserves or rep teams. In fact, he competed in a NEAFL final for the Suns last year AND the 2016 QAFL grand final for Palm Beach alongside Max Spencer, all while still 16 years of age. If the Suns decide to take him in November, he'll be another PBC club and school graduate like Joyce, Scheer and Spencer.

Here's an excerpt from his most impressive U18s game this year:
A STANDOUT performance from Gold Coast Academy midfielder Jacob Dawson was not enough as his side fell seven points short of the Brisbane Lions Academy at Southport on Saturday.

In the first game of the revamped Under-18 Academy Series, both sides attacked the ball ferociously in wet conditions with Dawson dominating from the outset to finish with 34 disposals, 13 clearances and 11 tackles.

The 181cm onballer not only showed his ability to win the ball in the contest but also impressed with his cleanness.
