DeShaun first day of camp...

So Mike Silver tweets some Ravens-generated bullshit report that many Ravens fans called in to express anger at the decision to possibly sign Kaepernick.
Yeah right. Maryland is one of the most black states in the US. Would've thought that was a good match for Kaepernick to play there.

RaiderNation is the best match for Kaepernick. Raiders are the most all-inclusive franchise. Al showed we don't care about race, color, creed, etc. Just football. Mark and Reggie could make a statement by signing him.

It's funny how things go in circles.

There was a time when Al's penchant for HWS and no aversion to elite talent with red flags was dissed around the NFL community -- fans and front office alike. But then it comes back round again. There are so many teams now who value HWS and are not averse to signing elite red flaggers.

Belichick, Bengals GM, Jerry Jones, now John Lynch....to name a few....are very Al-like in these regards. More than Reggie who is still very Packers-like.

Consider tho, that even Reggie is adapting and changing. From his choir-boy stance, to now showing willingness to sign players with red flag concerns.

Prosecutors letting a grand jury decide.....ham sandwich?

I-Team: Sex assault case with football star wrapping up
POSTED 5:55 PM, JULY 28, 2017, BY ED GALLEK

Conley investigation

CLEVELAND- Multiple sources tell the FOX 8 I-TEAM, the investigation in Cleveland is wrapping up a claim of rape against former Ohio State football star Gareon Conley.

We have learned a grand jury could decide as soon as next week if there should be criminal charges, or if there is not enough evidence for charges.

The NFL’s Oakland Raider recently drafted Conley. Meantime, before the draft, a woman said Conley sexually assaulted her at a downtown hotel. Surveillance video obtained by FOX 8 shows the two of them with others earlier at a bar in the warehouse district.

Cleveland Sex Crimes investigators have spent weeks doing interviews and getting lab test results. Multiple sources tell the I TEAM, investigators this week were taking the final steps gathering evidence. And the case is expected to be heard by a grand jury possibly within days.

Through his lawyer, Conley has said he’s innocent. And we’ve reported he passed a lie detector test taken at the request of his attorney.

These developments come as NFL training camps are opening.

Re: rape case grand jury indictments. No judge, only prosecution presents, indictments are generally considered pretty easy to obtain. Also in Ohio, only need 12 of 23 grand jurors to obtain an indictment to charge. No hung juries.

But that's not factoring in if the accused is a star player at Ohio State.

A grand jury just takes it to court. They don't determine guilt or innonence, just whether charges should be filed and taken to court. Why they are easy to obtain.

However, DAs hate to lose. So, if they don't think they can convict Conley, they may not try to make a strong case to the Grand Jury.

That is true if there weren't a million eyes on this case. Advocacy groups, victim rights groups, can make hell on your next re-election campaign as a DA. Unsure if this DA has those visions of re-election and a political career.

Also, grand juries are not open to the public, and typically no media or anything. But this will be national breaking news, top story on ESPN if they indict.

Losing a high profile case like this one might well be worse for a DA than a grand jury not indicting. Grand jury is secret and gives the DA cover. If they go to trial and lose, there's no cover for the DA.

So, a GJ indictment followed by exoneration in court is probably the #1 or #2 most likely scenarios in these cases.

Only about %2 of criminal cases go to trial, so it's not nearly as likely based on generalities. In this specific case, there's a lot of conflicting factors. High profile is probably bad for Conley, although his $$ to defend is going to make the DA wary, both because of the resource drain and the chance of a loss. Eyewitnesses seem to be mostly Conley's friends, that doesn't make a DA want to prosecute. He was never alone with the accuser? It might depend on whether she testifies and whether the grand jury finds her credible.

A day after @VonMiller predicted a big year for Shane Ray, #Broncos coach Vance Joseph announced Ray will miss the next 6-8 weeks.
--------
Let's goad him on twitter to talk up his teammates ;)

Thats 2 months for him to sit at home and smoke weed.

The medicinal kind

Dont know if he is smart enough to try and claim that.

Still against the substance abuse policy, Take as many opioids as you want, just dont smoke any weed

Ray was looking good last season, that's a blow.

As for Kaep, lots of teams with cap space and who are clearly waiting for next year's draft to get a QB, Jets especially. He could also go to Browns while they wait for Kizer to develop. Or Jags to put some pressure Bortles.

No f**kin chance Trump lets his good mate Woody sign Keap to the jets.

When the jets signed Chris Gragg (TE) they released KD Cannon in a corresponding move. That's two teams now who have waived Cannon.

What a dumb c**t. didnt get a draft grade or it was a low one and decided to skip his senior season.

Didnt the 9ers cut him for attitude issues? was it the same for the Jets or just not good enough in the first few days at camp.

Has to be attitude at jets too. Tho Cannon did only have minimal routes and was sloppy at those at Baylor.

Ray is a huge loss. He's a 10 sack player

Mate D isnt your teams issue, they just need a mildly combatant QB. And Ray missing the preseason and the first 1-2 games wont be what costs you a playoff spot. Ray being out for the season wouldnt cost you a playoff spot.

Weve got that. 2 in fact. Just need oline

9ers are probably a year ahead of Jets rebuild wise.

Think Shanahan will have a bigger impact. Bowles has been a disappointment. Seemed to be unable to cope with dissent in the locker room and he struggles with clock management.

Clock management isnt on Bowles, he is a defensive coach. that would be all on the OC
