NFL 2017 NFL - Week 3

He's absolutely right. How many times do you see a referee in AFL/NRL/etc reverse a decision because they admit they were wrong? Never. In the NFL tho they often pick up a flag and call the play fine due to them conferring to make sure. And the whole challenge of a call was invented by the NFL. Took other sports decades to implement such things -- even still don't have that right to challenge in the NRL/AFL etc.

Sure, they will get things wrong at times, or the rules themselves can be far too touchy that a penalty was a REALLY soft call (tho technically right) and could've instead not been called. But the NFL is at the forefront of pretty much everything around the world in terms of sport.

Spot on, adding to that there's so many rules in AFL that are pretty hard to tell which way it should go either way. Take the deliberate rule for example. I guess you could relate that to grounding and say they're a little similar but even then at least there is some sort of guidelines for that rule. Our deliberate is just up to however the umpire is feeling and how many ferals are yelling at him.
