I'm not usually an aggressive agitator around here, but here goes.

Many of you need to harden the f*ck up. You sit here and whinge about how depressing our history is, and how poor our finals record is. And you'd be right.

But then when we secure Top 2 three weeks out from finals, all you do is worry about how good Sydney are. Then when we secure 1st before the last game is even played, you whinge about having to play GWS or Port. Or oh gee, Geelong are pretty good.

I reckon a lot of people here prefer it when we don't finish high, so then they don't have to put up with the pressure. Well, f*ck that. Premierships aren't handed to you on a platter.

After the bye we had statistically the toughest draw home. If we made Top 2 from there, we would have earned it, and be a flag favourite. Well guess what. We're top. Does it mean we've done enough? No. Does it mean we're monties? No. But it means we're in the box seat. If you sit around worrying about having to play this team or that then you're f*cked before you've even started.

Since we secured Top 2 the club has looked at the bigger picture and is doing what's necessary to be as well prepared for the Qualifying Final as possible. How about we fire the hell up instead of worrying about other teams? It's a losers mentality.

Am genuinely struggling to remember a worse AFL side than the Suns tonight. They were beyond terrible. Is it hyperbolic to suggest that they won't be a football team in a few years? Hard to see them being remotely competitive for a few years at least. And given no-one gives the slightest fudge about them, how is it they survive as a club? Genuine question.

Thank God our opinions have absolutely no bearing on how AFL teams perform.

I get your point though.

We haven't won a significant final since the qualifying final of 2006. Every single other one since then we've lost. Forgive the pessimism.

But FWIW I'm as confident going into this finals series as I've felt in any since 1998

The AFL has to be wondering how they are going to recover some degree of credibility in Queensland. The 2 bottom teams in one state is not a good thing. Brisbane have been a joke for too long, but appears they may have turned a corner. Next year will be crucial for them. The Gold Coast though are by far the worst club in the AFL ATM. They are today's equivalent of the Sydney Swans of the early 90s. At this point there has to be real doubt that they will ever be a viable franchise of the AFL. Considering they already have salary cap advantages and the academy set up, it's hard to see them ever being successful.

Western Bulldogs MCG in 2015 wasn't significant?
Nope. A match up for the also-rans. Better than losing, don't get me wrong. But our upcoming qualifying final might actually lead us somewhere. It's a top four clash and a win would be huge.

Didn't Freo only score 13 points vs us a few years ago?

They will always exist because the AFL needs 18 teams for TV rights money.

If anything, we will see two more teams be introduced to further dilute the player/coaching/umpiring talent.

But t.v. rating revenue will increase with them.
