That's special. What an entitled group of flogs they are. They expect to get him for free too and they probably will because you know they're Geelong and all. How many more times will the AFL change the trading rules just for them???
Nothing surer. It will be textbook AFL.

I remember sitting in your main stand two years ago and I clapped a goal by Sloane and the girl next to me started barracking for Dangerfield.......while he was still playing for us........that's as special as you can get.
No, it was visionary. That, or the tea leaves didn't lie to her that morning. ;)

They should scrap "home state final". It's bullshit. You should earn the right to a home ground final. You should be able to play it wherever you want
Disagree. Showcase games should be on the showcase grounds.

If Port end up playing a handful of low-drawing games at Alberton Oval each season that doesn't mean they should get finals there.

Same as Hawks or Roos in Tasmania.

I don't see why teams would choose a small, shit stadium when they'd lose a ton of money. But, for example, Geelong and Sydney should have the right to choose not to play at the MCG or ANZ

Port would play their finals series in China.

For what it's worth, I hope the little flog doesn't get to us. But I'd be stoked if the AFL bent the rules to enable us getting Devon Smith and Jacob Hopper. :thumbsu:

Why?

If it's a given that the grand final is on the MCG every year then home ground is already out the door.

If GWS can play home finals at an even smaller ground at Skoda, Geelong should be able to host games at their home ground. Maybe not a prelim but first two weeks of finals definitely.

When the GWS stadium is full to bursting during the minor round they will play their finals at ANZ Stadium.

As it stands Skoda can comfortably fit all their fans for a final plus any opposition fans who travel and everyone can probably still have a seat to rest their thermos on

Skoda holds 24000 people, GWS have 20000 members, they can fit all there members plus travelling supporters in there, if geelong and richmond play the first week you arent going to fit a quarter of their combined membership at Kadinia

As much as Geelong and some of their supporters shit me, and as much as I want the game to be open to the fans, you have to remember that Geelong is a different city to Melbourne. Geelong should probably be playing more home games in their actual city.
If Port finish 4th we should petition the AFL to play the QF at the MCG in order to get a home crowd advantage back. We get way more travelling than they do. ;)

The AFL have already clarified that the scheduling of finals are venue appropriate to accommodate as many fans as possible.

Richmond VS Geelong will be the MCG as it will draw 70k+. It would make no sense commercially for the AFL to deny 40,000 extra fans from attending the game when the MCG will just be sitting there empty.

GWS played the prelim at Skoda last year, but even then it wasn't full. If the AFL believed that the demand was going to be greater than the Skoda capacity, then the game would be played at either the SCG or Telstra Stadium.

I'm not usually an aggressive agitator around here, but here goes.

Many of you need to harden the f*ck up. You sit here and whinge about how depressing our history is, and how poor our finals record is. And you'd be right.

But then when we secure Top 2 three weeks out from finals, all you do is worry about how good Sydney are. Then when we secure 1st before the last game is even played, you whinge about having to play GWS or Port. Or oh gee, Geelong are pretty good.

I reckon a lot of people here prefer it when we don't finish high, so then they don't have to put up with the pressure. Well, f*ck that. Premierships aren't handed to you on a platter.

After the bye we had statistically the toughest draw home. If we made Top 2 from there, we would have earned it, and be a flag favourite. Well guess what. We're top. Does it mean we've done enough? No. Does it mean we're monties? No. But it means we're in the box seat. If you sit around worrying about having to play this team or that then you're f*cked before you've even started.

Since we secured Top 2 the club has looked at the bigger picture and is doing what's necessary to be as well prepared for the Qualifying Final as possible. How about we fire the hell up instead of worrying about other teams? It's a losers mentality.
Ah yeah, what this guy said

The Vic teams already get an advantage with the grand final at the G, I'm happy for them not to have home ground advantage for the other finals aswell.
