So let's say we make a home Preliminary final against Richmond, the AFL deems that they would get 90,000 fans to a final at the MCG but only 52,000 at Adelaide Oval, would you be happy if they decided to move that final to the MCG because it's in the best interest of fans?
AFL can move it to any stadium without a travel and accommodation factor that we play minor round home games at.

But they do state-shift the Grand Final.

My point is the AFL arbitrarily decides where finals are played. Geelong played Fremantle at Simonds; GWS played the Bulldogs at Spotless. There have also been finals at Etihad in the past. Why weren't those games at the 'better' grounds of the MCG and SCG respectively?

The rule should either be actual home ground advantage (aka. the fair option) for all finals, or the 'better ground rule' (aka. better for fans option). The first option means the Grand Final is played at the home ground of the team that finishes higher, unless that team decides to move it to another one of their home grounds. The second option means any final can be moved to the 'best' stadium, even interstate finals if that is the best option for fans.

The only reason that Richmond aren't going to play at Simonds is because the AFL doesn't want to "lock out" opposition fans. So by that reasoning, a final at Adelaide Oval or Domain or Spotless or wherever might lock out opposition fans, so there is a chance it would be moved to a larger, better ground of the MCG.

As it stands, the rules are inconsistent and arbitrarily applied
The bolded is the crux of your argument and it's wrong.

Moving Geelong vs Fremantle to the MCG a couple of years ago would have been a waste of time. They'd have got fewer fans if anything.

And having a grand final at Launceston because the Hawks earned the right to host would be ridiculous.

Those are the two options you are presenting and they both dish up dire results which is why they aren't done.

Just caught 5 minutes of FootySA while waiting for our fish and chips. Loving the fact that Kornes is up and about.

"Great win by Port!" Um, our BigFooty Board could have lined up against Gold Coast last night and won by 100+. I would have kicked six.

"Great tuneup for the finals!" Yep. The best way to tuneup for hard, finals footy is to have a training run, then have a week off.

"The biggest Dream Final our state has ever seen." What, since the last one where we won by 13 goals? For a club that claims to be bigger than its rival, Port spends a shitload of time using us to make themselves relevant.

"The whole State is praying for St Kilda to win." To set up another 84-point drubbing. Gotcha.

"Port are back!" Seriously Kane, do you even football?
Yeah I accidentally tuned into that. Think I'll sue K Cornes for the ten mins of my life I won't get back.

Tigers will win today, but either way whether Pear or Tigers make the 4, won't we play GWS as both Pear and Tigers will have better % than them?

Whats the assumption we will just turn up? Where has this come from? Its a stupid analysis! Anyways the AFC players have declared anyone, anytime and anywhere attitude. Port have failed to outplay a single top 8 team this year. Worry about yourselves.
On the assumption the confidence on this page alone which just to quote a few "We will belt them", "You would get smashed", "Come against a quality side and their toast" and then the possible talk about Port winning a final showdown, "who are these morons.. is there an outbreak of dementia amongst the commentators". I like the fact that you're so confident, if the game eventuates and Port win, it will make it even more "special", and if we lose well the considered intellect on this board had already put the win into the footy record, so i'd rather be in Port's underdog position than that of the Crows who are expected to not only win, but win big.

Who knows what will happen, plenty of teams that expected to win by just turning up in the finals haven't won. It's starting the feel like there is no point in playing the finals as the results are already in.
It feels like that because Port are an average footy side that has had a dream fixture and a dream run with injuries and with that have managed to beat no one.

If the last 2 years tells you anything it is that the Crows turn up against the Power. If a showdown final does eventuate the Power will get destroyed just like last time.

Can we talk about the Bulldogs for a sec? I hate them. Let me say that first.

But where does their flag rank among the flukiest? They were good last year, not great, then somehow got so hot and were ridiculously full of spirit during the finals that they pipped everyone. Credit to them, they took their chances and had the umpires in their pocket, but to me, when you fail to even reach the finals the following year it kind of lessons it's value. Of course all that ultimately matters is the fact that the records will show they won the 2016 AFL premiership, but to me it's just out of the box, and we won't see them in true contention for a while now.

Really wish they didn't win last year.
As a human being I couldn't help but be heartened by watching a side finish 7th and beat 1st in the grand final, ending a 62-year premiership drought for supporters. I think the umpiring thing has a bit of truth to it, but to suggest that a team had four consecutive upset victories in finals due to umpiring? It's a bit of a stretch. They just wanted it more.

The door is still open for the Bulldogs to become a force in the next few years - just need to get the mental side right again and fill a few holes in the list. So it's up to them whether it goes down in history as 'that fairytale flag that came out of nowhere' or 'an up-and-coming side that grabbed a flag before their time'.

Yes thanks for that as the coaches until then wasn't listening to it's supporter base and giving our youngsters a go, while leaving under-performing experienced players in the side. So thanks for the belting. You can rightly feel confident if it eventuates that way, and I hope you're team go into the game over confident too. You only have to ask Port what top of the ladder means after the minor round, as we've done it 3 times, it means squat.
Oh yes the supporter base, the all seeing eye that your club listens to when picking a side......FMD a whole new level of delusion.

If we play you we'll rightly be confident, we bitch slapped your team and you should be thankful the end result was less tha 100 points. You haven beaten a decent team all year and that also extends to last year as well.

Keep pumping your tires up, the only time your overrated list beats a decent team is if the opposition dont show up.

I can sense a few people that won't be sleeping the week of a showdown final, if it does happen.

I like living in reality with things like a good record against top 8 sides, rather than fantasy land with feelings of 'oh if we did win it would be great'. May as well hope to win the lottery.

We're confident because your team is nothing but a bunch of downhill skiiers, flogs with shit haircuts and tattoos, and utter spuds who are getting a game because the PAFC has no depth.

They play like millionaires against bottom-10 sides but get exposed, big time, whenever they face a side in the top 8. The win against Sydney at Sydney was commendable but that's pretty much the only good win your mob has had since week 2 of the 2014 finals. Carlton also beat Sydney early this year.

If we face Port in the 2017 finals, we will win. As surely as the sun will rise in the east tomorrow. Take that to your filth board!

Was it you that invaded the pitch because your team couldn't get a kick?

You'd hope we've learnt something over the course of the year. (We have, we have got rid of under performing players).
