I don't blame them to be honest. Won the right to have a home final. Of course, they have to play at the G at some stage, but fact is we have a massive home ground advantage and the AFL took away theirs.
Why didnt they just make simonds stadium bigger and then the game wouldve been there? Didnt they just spend heaps of $$ on it?

I recon a highland fling for the prelim.
And if we get to the GF a bit of the Maddison "nutbush city limits". Will surely put any ather team off.
Win that and I think a bit of line dancing with Billy Ray Cyrus's, "Don't break My Heart, My Achy Breaky Heart" would be most appropriate.

Geelong are in for a world of hurt. Their drafting have been quite awful from the players they've traded in. Geelong have ZERO youth coming in....
It goes back further than that. You have to go back to 2008 to find the last time they drafted a player that went on to be selected in a 40 man All Australian squad (Motlop x1 - 2013), and he's hardly what you'd call a consistent, A-Grade footballer.

I'd say the last time they came out of a draft having picked up some unqualified A-grade talent was 2007 (Taylor & Mumford).

Nakia Cockatoo I'll give the benefit of the doubt to as I think he has potential, but that's 8-9 years without unearthing a single All Australian standard footballer.

To compound this very ordinary record in the draft, as you've pointed out they've consciously traded out of the first round of the 2015, 2016 and 2018 drafts to prolongue their stint at the top. If it works and they win a flag in this window, then it will be seen as a successful strategy, but either way they are staring into the abyss from potentially as early as next year when the likes of Mackie and Lonergan will be gone, Taylor will be 32 and Selwood/Hawkins will both be over 30.

For reference here are their entries to that squad since 2010:
2017: Dangerfield, Selwood
2016: Dangerfield, Selwood, Enright
2015: Nil
2014: Hawkins, Lonergan, Selwood, Taylor
2013: Enright, Mackie, Motlop, Selwood, Taylor
2012: Hawkins, Taylor, Selwood, Enright, Lonergan
2011: Enright, Johnson, Kelly, Selwood, Scarlett, Taylor
2010: Ablett, Enright, Chapman, Johnson, Kelly, Taylor, Selwood

Geelong were awful in first half and got two late goals, Richmond were on top but couldn't score.

3/4 qtr Geelong played better and Richmond ordinary.

Last qtr Richmond got on top again but this time scored easily as Geelong folded.
Thanks for that. It looked one-sided so didn't really want to go back and watch it

Brett Deledio has played out his whole 200+ game career without winning a final, and went to GWS no doubt hoping he would. He just lined up in a team that we humiliated in the QF. His old side won a final at last, the very next day. LOL!
Not to mention that his contribution on the night was just as humiliating

Bang. But we need to earn that GF spot by winning a PF for only the 3rd time in our history

Nothing's deserved. And i feel our boys know it

I wonder if we'll do the stare down again, or if that was a one time thing?
One off for GWS is my feeling

Looks like to me that the only advantage Geelong really has now is being able to play their glorified SANFL ground where they can exploit the weird dimensions against opponents who have game plans suited for far bigger grounds.

After last night performance I am not surprised at how they were so desperate to get all their finals at cheat stadium because they were absolutely spanked at the MCG.
Hasn't that advantage now been completely removed?

I thought that the AFL has already decided that Geelong will be back at the MCG

Geelong supporters having a huge whinge about their home game being played at their home ground*

*the MCG is one of Geelong's home grounds
it is a home state final not a home ground final, Sydney played a home final at ANZ stadium last year, did anyone hear them complain

Is it just me or is basically the whole media just assuming Port will get over the line tonight?
The only person I've heard really question it is Mark Bickley which is probably only to have a differing opinion to Rowie.

Only chance west coast have is they bring manic attack on the ball and man. WC have a big advantage up forward, so if they can generate turnovers and quick forward entry, that should get up.

If I were them, I'd be most concerned about Gray and Wingard being too slick to stop.

Something Lever should be thinking about. What happened to Griffen when he left the Dogs?

A big example of this is at the end of the article about Ollie Wines going on about being premiership contenders in the paper today: "The Power, as with the Bulldogs last season, have gained from the bye at the end of the home-and-away season." How the **** do you know if they have gained from the bye if they haven't played yet???

Seeing a player leave a club for success, get **** all and watch their old side win - brightens my day.

Looking at you Dangerfield. Make him pay, Crows.
