A big example of this is at the end of the article about Ollie Wines going on about being premiership contenders in the paper today: "The Power, as with the Bulldogs last season, have gained from the bye at the end of the home-and-away season." How the **** do you know if they have gained from the bye if they haven't played yet???
Exactly!

Don't want to sound arrogant but watching the game last night neither Geelong or Richmond looked particularly threatening.

Ahh yeah and Dangerfield is a massive flog. I would have liked more for him but him leaving could have been a god send.
I've felt the same thing this year. The standard of footy we've been playing has been absolutely first rate, and such an awesome style to watch. Sometimes watching other teams play I've felt a bit like "wtf are they doing out there, this is garbage". But I guess blind love for the team you barrack probably papers over the cracks of some of the less first rate moments as well.

I have no doubt our best will beat anyone anywhere, on our day we are the best in the comp. Hopefully Friday 22nd and Saturday 30th September are our days.

Did I just hear Rucci say that Adelaide could look at Jackson Trengrove to replace Lever or was he quoting an email?

Based on last night I would feel fairly confident facing Geeling in a prelim. I would rather face Geelong than Sydney,

Went to the movies last night - saw IT - and checked the scores... i'd thrown money on the Tigers for a 40+ win (@ 10/1) because i thought they were a sneaky chance to pull it off, Geelong i thought surprisingly brittle...

IT was great, Dangerflog lost, betting account looking healthy

Was a good night ;)

It's going to be interesting to see how long Martin can carry Richmond. There setup is really Dusty - daylight then Grigg, cotchin, Rewolt and Rance.

Now Dusty is probably the best player in the comp but it is a lot of responsibility and if he has a down game what then?

(I will add there is a fair bit of daylight between Martin and our best mids so I'm not bagging Grigg et al.)
Yeah, i think there's a good question to be built around, how good are they if Dusty goes down?

Haven't watch Richmond much this year at all, but they seem to keep winning, with Dusty as the figurehead / steamroller

We just beat GWS without Sloane - can they beat someone without Dusty?

I don't blame them to be honest. Won the right to have a home final. Of course, they have to play at the G at some stage, but fact is we have a massive home ground advantage and the AFL took away theirs.
They won the right to a home final and they got a home final. The MCG is one of their home grounds.

I am going to the game tonight. Bought tickets for my dad for fathers day. Unfortunately he is a Port supporter. I will so be going for the Eagles.

After watching last nights game, I am more than confident Port will not see a grand final this year. They haven't played a quarter this year at the intensity of the two qualifying finals. However even by some miracle that they win tonight, I am sure Kane will still determine that they are premiership favourites and that Richmond and the Crows won't want to face Port. Port won't beat GWS next week anyway.
You do tend to go to alot of Port games yet you accuse others of being closet Port supporters. If you gave me $10k I wouldn't go to a Port final unless the loss could be guaranteed.

Can you imagine Geelong supporters complaining about not being able to to get seats at Kadinia Pk for their home final because of the allocation to Richmond supporters? There'd be 30k Richmond supporters and 15k Geelong.
Complete f***ing idiots.

It's allowed them to bring back all their injured A Graders... Oh wait... Scrap that.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Seeing a player leave a club for success, get **** all and watch their old side win - brightens my day.

Looking at you Dangerfield. Make him pay, Crows.
Agree, the only way to make Danger really hurt about his decision to abandon us is to win the flag this year.

Knocking them out in a prelim will be a lovely bonus.

And if I was in corporate box as well.

No way would I go to a Port game, not involving the Crows.

I reckon at 1.2m a year Richmond dont think they could.

Hopefully for fans of the AFL he never goes down.

Can not understand how Geelong is favourite for Stringers services. I will be interested to see how the AFL could justify anything close to allowing Geelong to trade for Stringer. Unless they give up a player, I am certain they can not trade either of their first 2 picks. They have traded in Henderson, Dangerfield, Touhy, Zac Smith, Rhys Stanley etc.

Since 2012 Geelong have had just 6 picks in the first 2 rounds of the national draft. Equalled Adelaide who had draft sanctions and less than Hawthorn who were renowned traders for GF wins.

Picks in the first 2 rounds since the 2012 national draft.
Geelong 6
Adelaide 6
Hawthorn 7
Melbourne 8
Richmond 8
Port Adelaide 9
West Coast Eagles 9
Carlton 11
Sydney 11
Collingwood 12
Essendon 12
Fremantle 12
St Kilda 12
Western Bulldogs 13
Gold Coast 14
North Melbourne 15
Brisbane 16
GWS 22

I am all for clubs trading as a policy. However, rules are rules and they were allowed to break them last year for Touhy and they clearly haven't had their fair share of draft picks. Still, fancy losing to Richmond with the AFL in your pocket gifting you your every desire. haha

I have never accused anyone of being a port fan! find me a quote where I said that? I go to Port games with my dad and brother. I always go for the opposition. Plus sometimes the best games of footy to watch live are ones where you couldn't care less who wins. You can watch the game for what it is.

I don't like geelong anymore than most of y'all but I think they have the right to feel aggrieved that their home game was gifted to the tigers just so the AFL could line their own pockets. We'd be fuming if we were in their position.

I was at the G last night and it was bizarre. Felt like 75% Richmond fans. When Geelong ran through their banner the boos were near-deafening. Anytime they kicked a goal there were boos. Free kick to Richmond and the crowd went ballistic. It reminded me of a hostile Crows crowd at the Crowval. Just bizarre when Geelong finished above Richmond on the ladder. Still, as Chris Scott says, you have to win on the G in the GF so may as well get used to it...

I think it has been established that 2019 is the year Geelong (or any club) has to meet the 2-first-round-every-4-years rule since the rule was brought in in 2015.

But from memory, I think the penalty that the violating club has to suffer is simply to not be able to take part in the trading of picks!

So big effin deal! You just have to use your picks for the next two years! Like it's going to make a big difference to them.

Ed.:
- Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks.

Whoopdeedoo.
