I actually really like Chris Scott's pressers. He never shies away from a question, he's pretty straightforward in acknowledging failures and he gives nuanced, thoughtful answers. I don't really understand why he attracts so much vitriol.
Because he is one of Scott brothers. Some of us remember them playing.

This is a massive, Chris Scott-level excuse.

One of Geelong's three home grounds is the MCG. They played 2 home games there this year, 5 in total. Geelong fans had just as much access to the game as Richmond fans, they just don't have as many fans. Big deal.

Geelong played like garbage and the ground had very little to do with it. Having a big whinge about their 'home ground advantage' is just that: having a big whinge. How about Geelong supporters complain about the insipid effort by their players? Nah, can't do that, because not playing at Simonds is a bigger issue.

The fact is they finished 2nd, they played at their home ground, and it's just bad luck they played a team who also has the MCG as their home ground. If they wanted to have a stronger advantage, maybe they should have finished higher so they played GWS instead.
The ground had a fair bit to do with it. Geelong are only an average side at the MCG - dropping games to Essendon, Collingwood and now Richmond this year, and nearly letting Collingwood get away with the double this year. They also dropped one to Collingwood there last year. In fact, they are two Isaac Smith mis-kicks from being 3-6 in their last 9 games there.

Their lack of mobility can see them exposed on a bigger arena. The cluster of large defenders benefits from the compressed space they have to cover down at Kardinia Park.

I just had a look at ticketek prices for tonights game
Bay 323-326 the seats in front as you walk in from the main southern plaza entrance from $28
bay 143 & 144 down by the fence in Eddies pocket from $20
Don't worry the bean counters in AFL House would be fully aware of this - expect us to have an equal if not more Friday night/Thursday night games next year.

AFL know what they get with Adelaide - bums on seats without discounting. Not sacrificing their brand.

Been saying this for awhile and Sydney have also struggled at the G from memory (happy to be proven incorrect).

Let's just focus on our PF and then worry about how the cards have fallen.

Said it before and will say it again - this is a side that has been on a mission since 2015. It was derailed with Danger leaving but bring up the next soldier and keep going forward.

If their game plan doesn't work on the MCG, they are a shit side. Who would design a system that only works on their home ground where the Grand Final isn't played? That's dumb.

In any case, the MCG is one of Geelong's home grounds. They knew the game was being played there, and a good side would have adjusted accordingly.

Blaming a loss on the ground is one of the worst excuses. It's pure whinging.

Apart from that whole 2005 & 2006 misunderstanding.
When your sibling is on drugs you are disappointed in them and often angry at the time, but over time once they start sorting their life out again the feelings of forgiveness can start.

Typical Brendan Goddard. Every Essendon player in the same pose for the anthem, hands folded in front. Except him. Hands behind his back
