Port fans should start looking forward to the dreaded rebuild talk from the coaches.

However like I said last week, Richmond are trying to give their fans hope by playing a full strength best 22. Good for them but how long until reality sets in for another season.

A very melty Port Board at the minute.

In the firing line are Kern, Dixon ("who may be the worst trade we ever made") and even (J)Anus is copping it as Kern's lapdog.

Excellent.
Dixon is the most over rated trade since we traded for Tambling. The dumb intimidating tough guy tactics he plays doesn't work because it's a bluff and he can't do anything when called. Any half decent big bodied full back will smash him. He is slow and a poor pack mark.

He is a good pack mark when he can get a clean run at the pack he's as good as anyone, but the problem is that that will only happen 1.5 times a game. Which is not enough to have an impact on the game.

So were Port ever as good as the media/their supporters made them out to be a few years ago? or did they just get a huge amount of credit because of how bad they were before that, and that most people thought if they have improved this much, next year they should be able to improve this much again.

They weren't meant to be 2013/2014 good again in 2015, and as most predicted, 2016, they were supposed to go one step further and finish top 2-4 and probably win the whole thing.

They seemed to get way ahead of themselves.

Even if they recapture some of that form they had in 13 and 14 it's not like they are a top 4 team during the home and away season, they've never dominated a season under Ken Hinkley, 2013 they lose 5 in a row, finish 8th and get bumped up a spot when Essendon are kicked out of finals.

2014 they finish 5th but win just 4 of their last 11 games.

Other than a decent finals record, under Ken Hinkley they've had a good end to 2013 and start of 2014 and that's about it, even Sando had a good 12 months.

Port got so much credit for what they could possibly do in 2015, but they are a long way from that now.

I almost feel sorry for the guy, surrounded by reality tv coaches and all of Kochies off-field gimmicks but if Port lose in China, Ken might as well stay there.

No. They are mostly the same useless spuds that saw the likes of Primus get sacked. You can criticize coaches but the players are not capable either. They got a perfect storm season, still had the upswing from a new coach and the excitement of AO and people actually going to their games. Now they have just reverted to form.

Any coincidence the two seasons they ramp up the China strategy onfield results and team harmony were poor. The third is looking the same.

Yeah probably not.....

I am sure the players and coaches find learning Mandarin to impress Mr Gui more usefill than learning and implementing a gameplan.

Their player development is dreadful. Wingard and Wines have regressed when they looked like world beaters in their firs 2 seasons. Their round 2+ picks are all average, and they've wasted all their first round picks trading for other teams' waste like Ryder (lol) Polec (LOL) and Dixon (F'NLOL)

Their only 2 players I would want at the Crows are Gray (who is a star) and Hombsch (who is solid). The rest may have talent, guys like Wines, Boak, Wingard, Hartlett may have talent and capable of putting in good performances better than some of our guys, but they're either inconsistent and mentally weak or have massive holes in their games which are readily exposed making the rest of the strengths redundant.

Does anyone know how much earlier their bye is due to the China game compared to the rest of the league?
More fatigued at the end of the season than every other team (apart from China's favourite team) will be great to watch!
