Empathy is in short supply at the moment.

I have empathy for a lot of situations. Domestic violence, disability rights, indigenous rights, marriage equality just to name a few. I'm not interested in a WAG posting photos of her children and claiming that she is helping people.

My thoughts on the Stringer article are

1. Abby Gilmore is a great name, I don't think you could have a name that is closer to Happy Gilmore but still a real name.

2. 2 kids for a 22 yr old? The kid needs a condom sponsor.

Pretty sure the words in your mouth already have you in the ignorant/fool catagory. You belittled her as a single person, a woman and a mother who sits at home blogging shit and said she was a goldigger. How about you transport yourself back to the 1800s where your opinions obviously belong.

Hahaha. No need for the ad hominem response, just because I disagree with you. Were you one of those people that changed their profile picture on Facebook to a flag of France after the terrorist attack and thought you were helping?

 .....WTF ! ......all i read was her being single and 23 with 2 childrens, and her fears around that .....plus a really positive outlook of still supporting her husband in the GF & wanting a positive relationship for her childrens sake

IMO i thought it was a really positive article

And IMO I thought it was a nothing article about yet another WAG getting air time when there are far more pressing issues in the world at the moment such as domestic violence which is absolutely out of control.

What about shooting your mouth off without knowing the details of something that's happened? Making judgements based on prejudice?

I cant continue this conversation. And in answer to your question, no and I don't have Facebook. Hope everything in your world fits in its nice little box, sorry I couldn't comply with your assumptions about me. Bye bye ignorance.

I had a partner who, when we separated, tried to 'bill' me for things that he paid for and told me after the fact that this is what we had bought/were going to do. My salary was half of his and yet all my salary went onto the household bills which essentially left me with no spending money. He refused to have a joint account. There is another situation in my family regarding a partner who walked out on a pregnancy and has been trying to hide from the government so that they don't have to pay child support. I know so many people for whom these types of stories are so very real.

What a disgraceful human being

What's there to know? She's explained everything. Sucks about the postnatal depression and being a single mum would be tough, but I still fail to see how she's so concerned about others when the whole article was about her, promoting her blog and saying things like ""I feel like Beyoncé knew I was in the Herald Sun today so she decided to release her baby news"... For me, there are far more important things that deserve media coverage.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean you need to throw your toys out the cot. Bye bye :thumbsu:

Drake, if you are trolling and looking for views ... your posting would make sense. This angle of yours regarding "there are more important things in the world" is hilarious coming from someone with 15,000 posts on a Footy forum !! Do you think Footy deserves any publicity? If you are actually saying what you believe - then you should switch off nearly all media, especially if it has sport playing. You'd better not have Foxtel or that would be really hypocritical, spend the $50 on something of worth.

Can you accept that maybe the people that this young lady is inspiring - are in a different world to you? Can you perhaps take yourself out of your little bubble and see that maybe some simple affirmations from a young lady who is living through something similar to what they are living through with a smile and a positive attitude - might be a flash of light in an otherwise dim world?

Your posts are reading like either a spurned ex-husband that sees a "single mum" and sees a leech OR a young fella that hasn't lived much.

Step back and maybe try and see what it is about all this that has you sooooo offended. Might be a good process for you to go through?

I baby sit my niece & nephews once a week and am convinced that being a single mum is one of the hardest jobs going around.

It's just so mentally draining, the fact that some men try to get out of paying child support disgusts me. Our laws here are a joke anyway so I'm not surprised that people get away with things so often.

This happened a few days ago, things like this happen all the time in Australia.. magistrate lets husband have bail after a serious domestic violence assault, we all know what the end result is.
It just makes you shake your head.

Jesus. You're sounding like a dickhead in this thread, mate.

She's been with him since she was 13 and he left her with a three week old. I don't give a shit if she has a blog, she hardly seems to be the villain in this.

What's that got to do with the price of eggs?

Apples and oranges.

And she established her platform how.... ? Through years of hard work and dedication or because she's a WAG?

Can you perhaps take yourself out of your little bubble and see that maybe some simple affirmations from a young lady who is living through something similar to what they are living through with a smile and a positive attitude - might be a flash of light in an otherwise dim world?

Oh lord. If you knew me, you'd know I'm far from living in a bubble. As I have said, I stand for a number of other rights and am even an advocate for other issues I have mentioned on here. If she is helping others, then good on her. I don't agree with the media attention that WAG's receive though, it's pretty much as simple as that. Take a look at the WAG's you have seen today and over the years - have they put in years of dedication and commitment and worked their way up the food chain to be where they are? Or are they where they are now because they are, or were, the partner of a footballer? And before the feminists pipe in, yes I am aware of women who have built a successful career on their own terms, and good on them - that should be what is inspiring young women.
