Yes there so many lol worthy moments in that extra time period, Shuey’s goal capped it off :D
AO sure is our second home, however if we played the Crows there this year, I am reasonably sure it would have been a loss!

As for WCE in 2018... it’s the great unknown. I personally think we will be in the mid table logjam again. Many have us sliding and that’s fair, we only just made the eight and have lost experience etc. Many questions about the ‘new’ midfield under SMitch, the new stadium, new gameplan. If all goes well, our midfield shows some improvement and development, we could surprise. One thing though, if we are hit hard by injury then big trouble. Our depth has taken a huge hit, almost Port Power bad now !
Which players are you expecting to make a bigger impact in your midfield next year? Redden
Sheed
Venables

Will be interesting to watch the transition

All three for sure! Redden started to find some solid form once he got a chance in the middle... He isn’t an A grader, but with some more development can be a reliable player for us there. Sheed is one that there are high expectations on. Needs a big year.
Venables is the great hope. Very similar to Shuey. He definitely should be getting an opportunity. The reality is the midfield is our weakness and there is a lot of hope pinned on Naitanui, him being there makes a massive difference. Our development of midfielders has left a lot to be desired. Hoping SMitch and Van Berlo! can lead the way there!

On the news last night the Port Adelaide mayor offered free Pear memberships to any of the public servants that have said they don't want to work in the swamp if they'll change their minds.
One thing you have to give Pear credit for--they are creative in filling the blanks in that members' list.

Why? ....is it Drafting, Trading, or Development that's the issue ?

A bit of everything really. From 2007 onwards, we have had quite a few misses at the draft for which we are paying the price now. Then there was a rather confused strategy of picking up discards from other teams and putting them on the rookie list. Our trading has been average, starting with Wellingham in 2012, one standout year (2015) apart from that, nothing. Jetta for Sinclair was an ok trade, we didn’t lose much there but again hoping for more from Jetta... Redden needs a strong year now (now that he has a starting spot in the midfield to probably justify his trade).

It seems like we can find and develop KPP’s at will, but midfielders is a different story! A far cry to the early 2000’s. We had a bit of bad luck too, two midfield hopes - Cavka and A Waterman both retired/delisted without getting on the park due to injury and illness.

Hence why our list is quite imbalanced. A host of top liners, mature players and now players entering or in their prime... The rest are kids, rookies and those been on the list a few years without getting any game time. Hence why 2018 is going to be a very interesting year. And as mentioned before, if injuries hit hard... won’t be pretty . But looking forward to it, it’s all part of the fun of being a supporter haha! Just want to see a proper coherent plan and strategy, Simpson has fought and won the battle to get the squad that he wants...it’s now time to see what direction we are going in...

Thanks .....don't disagree, the other fail "so far" is Jetta .....he + Wellingham were supposed to provide the speed to a great midfield, but slow

Really looking forward to watching Venables this year ........really hoped we could have Drafted him

Yes fair call re Jetta, I don’t think we (the coaching staff) used him all that well the first year, but some improvement in the second half of 2017.

Yes Venables is a great prospect. I really hope he does well... otherwise it’s not going to be pretty, considering we chose him over SPP :)

Definitely the right choice .....so much more upside to Venables
