Just saw it mentioned on Twitter that Matt Crouch has easily won "The Age's Player of the Year." It has been completely ignored and not reported in the media though. Would detract from the Richmond storyline.
Dusty has been the better player, obviously, but i thew $15 on Crouch for a brownlow just in case. Would make me about $1400 richer.

Swap the Cotchin and Sloane incidents around and Rory would be missing.

Nope. I was always of the opinion that shouldn't have been a charge. Can't say finals footy is tough contested footy and then have players rubbed out for contesting the footy, glad to see that there was no stupidity by the MRP.

Plus it would have been all week, "whinge whinge whinge, why was the second coming suspended?" Now they can just get on with the Richmond rubfest and we can go about it in silence

I'm sure you'll all get some laughs out of this.
Power Reserves skipper Steve Summerton posted this on FB after The Magpies got prostituted into a Power Reserves side. Then got offered good money to stay as an SANFL Marquee player.....whatever the f*** that means.

Now what was it they were saying about identity crisis over yonder? :D:$

I don't even know who is who, what is what, which team is which in this whole mess which they twist and turn when it suits their varied agendas.

Depend on what you mean by 'should be a charge'. If you don't want to see that sort of thing result in a suspension and think it 'shouldn't be' in that sense it is one thing. If you're talking precedent and consistency then it completely should have been.

I didn't think Sloane's attempted spoil last year was worthy of a suspension and if Cotchin had hit a player in an identical manner to that one on Saturday it wouldn't have been. We know it wouldn't have been.

If it was mid-season, Cotchin's incident would have been a fine to 1 week, Ellis would have been 1 week to 2 weeks and Sloane would have been no case to a fine.

As far as preferring he play to avoid the whinging, I wouldn't mind them having that distraction. I couldn't care less if we won it against their reserves team TBH, there's no notes added to the Cup. Win this and we have it forever. Will anyone give a crap that we'll be without Smith and Gov if we lose? Will that cheapen a Richmond flag? We already have to play the lower ranked side on their home ground in front of a hostile crowd. I'll take any advantage.

Said something similar to my kids ... I don't think he will get done for that, but I won't complain if he does.

Richmond would be a lot easier to beat without Cotchin, end of discussion.

I expect a bit of biffo early to be honest, these Tigers are starved. They will be out to win at ALL costs. I hope our players and coaches have a plan in place for this scenario. They take one of ours down, we take two of them down. I wouldn't care if half the team was suspended and we couldn't field a team in the first 6 rounds. Win the premiership and deal with that other stuff later :)

Former skipper after that rant.

Sometimes it's good for an organisation to get that kind of honest feedback from guys at the coalface...sometimes those guys might not see the big picture (i.e. not going completely bankrupt), but I don't think a few of the hierarchy at Port would appreciate the criticism.

AFL reserves in the SANFL has definitely hurt the Port Adelaide Magpies more than it's hurt the Crows. For us it was all positives.

Ouch!
Cop that !

Good on him. He's saying what we all know
Power has devalued what was once a respected ( albeit disliked) successful club

They've dragged them down to power levels

They are a disgrace

Then they've got this on their board .....

"It's the coaching, we need a Fos Williams or a John Cahill type, a coach who can make ordinary players good, and good players champions, and has the ability just by changing a match up to turn a disadvantage into an advantage."

Please ... never change ... ever

Fos Williams would be embarrassed to be metioned as part of the team that does the NTUA scarf stretching bullshit.

Also, so Port without Ryder and cheap shot Charlie was a better team? Makes that $1.6M a year seem a bit of a waste.

On the later note, doesn't matter who coaches Port, spuds are going to be spuds. Poor recruiting has made them a potato farm.

The squad isn't very well balanced. They have some promising draftees and young players but they don't have the experience to cover the potatoes left over from poor list management.

The danger with fining players with a 3 strikes and your out policy is that you end up with a Cotchin situation that has now left the AFL world shaking their head. The fact is, Cotchin didn't deserve to get suspended for his hit alone, but neither did Dangerfield on Kruezer. Had it been the regular season he would have copped a fine or a suspension. You can't not give the 3rd fine because it results in a suspension. The fine system is supposed to serve as a warning to players to get their shit together or get suspended. Cotchin is a serial repeat offender who chose to be reckless time and time again. It's not the AFL's responsibility to appease players wants and desires about playing in a grand final by having a punishment of missing the grand final doesn't fit the crime. In this case it does and the AFL were too gutless to make a decision. I genuinly think the AFL should appeal the decision based on the simple fact the MRP have to abide by the rules and not make them up.
