Amazing how quickly and completely such an experienced player like Venus went to water in this 2nd set.
Only took 10
Never would have picked that after that hard fought first set. This is why I find tennis one of the most interesting sports from a psychological perspective. Sometimes you see amazing repeat clutch moments under extreme pressure... and sometimes you see this.
Such a fine line between getting a shot perfect or stuffing it up, easy game to choke.
Still generally a pretty dull spectator sport though imo.
Is AFLX get the go ahead or still not yet confirmed? I actually like the concept , can see how it can improve players short kick and decision making .
* Prefer young player with restrictions on the number of star players .
Eg croz, sutty , sherriden , zac Clarke ,ibbo, duman type.
The simple rule should apply, last in, first out.
Oh no, that would be a Vic team !!!!!!!!.
nobody turns up anyway to the rebels, no one cares about rugby here in melbourne
Force have also won 6 games whilst they have managed just 1..
Only half time and the melting is on in earnest on the Richmond board
Alex Witherden will get the rising star nomination this week.
richmond are the worst side to ever be in top 4 contention, they have had the luckiest ride this year. They clearly are a bottom 4 side
I cry everytim
I feel bad for the way the Force have been treated by the ARU. The Force have recognised the weaknesses in having a non-AFL team in Perth, and instead of trying to compete with head to head crowd numbers they've focused on grassroots development as a means of establishing a supporter base. I went to a Western Spirit game which is the Force reserves and there was a good WAFL sized crowd and a huge integration of the junior and amateur clubs at the game. To think that they might be axed because the senior team has had a few rough years on field (not the only Australian team to suffer it by any stretch) when there is an unsustainable plastic franchise losing money in Victoria is sad. I really hope they end up surviving.
What's everyone's thought on the current 6-6-6 fixturing. Obviously it was brought in to try and keep the ladder closer when they was quite a gap between the good and bad sides.
The league seems to really be evening up, Brissy and Carlton will be stronger next year bringing them closer to the pack.
Is now the time to switch to a rolling draw that spans over the seasons? Simply play every team home then next time it's away.
the commetti name is alive and well in footy, just seen a story on 7 news in melbourne on Dennis' son Mark commentating on footy, i like the idea of hearing another commetti for the next 20 years.
Not sure it will quite be the same...
I think it's fine. It has the potential to create massive swings from year to year in terms of fixture strength but, as you say, an even comp somewhat removes that problem.
I think all other options are at least as bad if not worse (17 then 5 is just atrocious) and wouldn't want to lose footy, 2 derbies or other potential double headers by just dropping to 17 rounds.
Anyone else think this is somewhat concerning?
So he gets knocked out cold Saturday night, comes to and clearly has no idea what's going on, looked completely out of it, thought the trainer was Bernie Vince....... Nah we reckon he'll be good for Friday.
A six day break.
While McCartin and Brayshaw they both seem to be given plenty of time off to recover I wonder if a non-footballing doctor would be giving them the all clear to keep playing after receiving multiple concussions (5+) over a two year period. Does the AFL have any say in how the players are managed or is it all on the clubs.
I know I'm an old fuddy duddy ( regularly told every day !!! ), but I still think that if you are replaced due to concussion during a game, you have next week off. No debate, you are having the week off !!!.
Remember listening to David Parkin comments on concussion. He went down many times, played the next week and ultimately was shite.
Dunno about being an old fuddy duddy, you may well be, but that's a pretty progressive mindset. Totally agree.
How long do combat sport competitors have to take off after being knocked out?
3 months from memory but I'm a little punchy
On iPad using BigFooty.com mobile app
They're broadcasting peel this weekend. About time!!!
