It is indeed a shame we didn't get the best out of Menegola. It is a black mark against our development team. There is however a level of self ownership in his case. He went to the next level when back at Subiaco. Made him realise how bad he wanted it, which also for Freo is a shame this realisation didn't come a little earlier.

At the time his delisting didn't surprise me at all. I was surprised he was given another shot at pick 66 by Geelong even though his half season with Subiaco was very very good.

However I agree with Meima on this one, it wasn't meant to be with Freo.

Whilst that is true its not the whole story. As is made clear in the article he was given purely defensive, negating roles at Freo/Peel. He was understudying Crowley pretty much.
At Subi he was given license to hunt the ball and play a more attacking role.
I believe our system coaches too much of the flair and instinct out of players. This works well for some but not others.

My conclusion if the player not happy at the club better delist him and let him go somewhere else .
Said along the lines of that Schofield helped him into the attacking inside mid, whereas Freo tried to honed him into a defensive tagger. Says it all really.
The development into these blokes can cause a bit of a defensive mentality and some players don't shine, or enable them to play their game. Not sure if that's an indictment on Ross' part.
But look at Mengeola now- attacking and elite runner. Good on him for taking that mature approach and learnt from his time at Subiaco.
Better then Suban, who is a defensive scrapper sort of player. Ross likes those it seems.

I reckon richmond will crap themselves today and lose to st kilda. And slip to 6th and have to play elimination week 1 again.

They got flogged by them last time and the fact that we offered no resistance last week after quarter time as it was virtually a training run for them.

Is sometimes not a good thing before a big game.

The Saints are severely weakened by the absence of Gilbert though.

I think it is going to put the heat on one G. Ablett big time. Apparently he can do wrong.
Why would it put more heat on Ablett? he didnt play and looks like never playing for the club again time for them both to move on was never the leader they wanted but contributed greatly on the field you would think they would have known that before they recruited him

Watching the Geelong GWS game, it seems that S. Johnson was worse than useless. Hopefully Matt de Boer takes his place in the first final, as he does a lot to free up the young tyros in that team.
Is a huge decision for them would think De Boer gets back in looks like Johnson has just run out of legs unfortunately for him.

Wasn't zero, Mayweather cardio just too good. Conor couldn't get off that big left, he looked good early but.
Now if Mayweather came forward like that all the time he'd have a lot more fans
Agree with that, as good as he is/was he's boring as batshit to watch

Bang on! Mayweather was smart and worked to his strengths but Connor was very good in the first few rounds.

Anyone else in the world on debut challenging a 49 n 0 champ would if been slaughtered. It actually was a bloody good fight considering Connors debut
