But Aussies have a serious case of tall poppy. We all whinge at how boring all the players are in the media but they go slightly off script and everyone turns on them so quickly. Bugg got lambasted in the media for the tinniest bit of swagger and overconfidence in a joke instagram post.
I generally agree but I dunno about this bit though. It seems to me the key word there is 'media'. Bugg got lambasted by the media. I imagine the average fan on the street doesn't give a shit and might even enjoy it, not that i've polled anyone. The media obviously has an incentive to latch on to any sniff of drama and generate clicks. I wonder if that's actually driven by societal attitude or if that practice itself is the driver. We certainly revere our fair share of cooked units - Libba comes to mind as a recent example.

I wish our sport had more characters like Toby Greene. Villians and heroes add to the show. I wish we had more players with a whole lot more swagger.

I would love a first year recruit to come out and say that they are going to win the brownlow in their first year..... but no 'i just want to do the team thing' is what we get now just so no-one gets upset.
Having a bit of swagger and talking trash is fine. American athletes are really good at that and it adds to the spectacle of professional sport over there. I have no problem with what Greene says, and as far as I'm aware he's not a big one for talking trash in the media. My main problem with him is that he's a thug, on and off field, which is very different to what you're talking about.

Long haired Champs.
Toby Greene is pilloried because he punches and kicks people in the head playing sport, shows zero remorse and given that he's done it off the park, you could be excused for suspecting he enjoys it.
Don't know it's got much to do with poppies.

And Richmond's fixture wasn't easy?

I still can't understand how you justify taking the advantage which Geelong deserved, (if you have a problem with their draw then that's another argument entirely) and handing it to Richmond. All because Richmond have this huge supporter base and you're worried that their fans won't get to watch the game.

If the Eagles and Dockers would have played a prelim against each other in 2015 how many fans of both sides do you reckon would not have gotten tickets? Are you going to cry for them that they didn't get to watch the game? It can happen.

And I haven't been brainwashed. I just want to see a fair league. The more I watch this game the more results feel pre-determined, almost like I am watching WWE.
Richmond's fixture was no easier than all Melbourne teams have to face. They travelled interstate 6 times and to Kardinya Park once. They played interstate teams at home 5 times. The rest of the games were against teams from Melbourne so there was no advantage or disadvantage,

The whole idea that Geelong deserve an advantage is frankly moronic and makes you sound like a hayseed from Sleepy Hollow. They get between two and five more wins every year as a direct result of a favourable draw. To try to palm it off as another argument is missing the point.

You also seem to have missed the point that if the game was played in Geelong, the Richmond fans would still have outnumbered the Geelong fans. And drowned them out, just like a small contingent of Freo fans did in 2013. Handbaggers are soft.

Allowing fans a chance to see the game is important.
If the Eagles and Dockers played against eachother many fans would have missed out, because there was no alternative. It would have been unavoidable. Luckily for Victorians they have a 100,000 seat ground, which also happens to be the place you have to win at if you want to win a grand final.

The brainwashed comment was a response to your claim that fans are brainwashed into accepting an idea that you don't agree with. If you want to see a fair league, why are you on Geelong's side? They've the most advantages of any team and whinge the most of any side. An entitled club with entitled supporters.

Why are we even discussing whether Geelong deserve an advantage or not? Screw those guys. KP is a hole that is only good for getting hypothermia. And I hope they lose. Douchebags.
They would still be on a 60 year or whatever flag drought if they didn't fall into the VFL father sons gifts.

I'm surprised Brown is surprised. Exactly the approach one would expect from a soulless corporate franchise like West Coast.

“As a footy club, loyalty is one of our core values,” he said.
“We have it written on the wall and the coaching staff, the club, they expect loyalty. They expect excellence and they expect us to go out on game day and give everything for them.
“What I felt that day was that they expected everything from me but when it was on the other hand, they don’t show it back.”

I live in Melbourne and listen to SEN1116 almost exclusively and I tell you what I fear for the tiger army, think they might be settings themselves up for a huge disappointment, the hysteria is out of control.
I think they'll make the GF but I believe Adelaide are almost unstoppable.

I reckon Sydney are the scariest. Adelaide's form is a bit up and down at the moment. Richmond will pull a Freo and get overawed on the day if they make it to the GF.

I've had an epiphany, and it was that you boys will win and send us to the dark ages where we will never ever recover.
We'll be lucky not to get flogged this week tbh. And if by chance we snatch a win this week, Richmond, at the MCG in front of 90k would surely smack us.

Its exciting making it past the first week from 8th, our last away finals win was in 2006, but realistically everyone above us are better.
