With Kelly re-signing with GWS I get the feeling Saints are going to do something stupid. They've misses out on Fyfe, Dusty and now Kelly. They talked themselves up to their supporters about wanting to be a destination club and no one has come.

If they do something stupid like offer pick8 for Gaff i'll spew.
Crosier.:)

Venables was on limited minutes coming back from his foot injury. Agree it's too early to say he's AFL quality but there was a reason for his low output.
Exactly. But it didn't stop The Worst from trying to divert attention from that pathetic display on the weekend. Our youngsters are all playing in a WAFL Grand Final next weekend but not a word about them (except to whine that it's not fair :)). But some West Coast kid that's done nothing gets a whole article a day after half your team doesn't rock up in a final again. Almost as ridiculous as the Willie Rioli hype a week or so ago off the back of just 4 WAFL games.

You guys know as well as us how poor your drafting and development has been lately. Toning down the excitement over youngsters that have done nothing yet might be smart. Just like toning it down to realistic levels after crawling over the top of a team that hadn't beat a top 8 team this year ;)

There's an article in The West today with a quote from Priddis saying Venables is a Shuey clone. He's only played 8 WAFL league games and hasn't had more than 19 possessions in a game yet. A bit premature to be calling him even AFL quality yet imo.

To put that in perspective our first rookie pick from last year (Taylin Duman) has had a **** load more of the ball than Venables in WAFL league games and he plays half back or wing. Blakely > Lamb, Duman > Venables :) lol
Maybe he was referring to the WAFL high tackle stats?

Venables was a good under age midfielder. He hasn't shown much this year at East Perth. But it's too early to tell. You'd give him another 2 years no problem to show something, but if he doesn't improve on this year. You could add him to the development basket. I wonder who your development coaches are?
I reckon is the development problem.

It seems the Freo youngsters give their all when playing for Peel, whereas Eagles players seem to give very lacklustre effort at East Perth.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Well, the club did call Adam Cockie a Priddis clone back in the day.. So let them say what they want. :drunk:

It's enjoyable sensing his disappointment as you read that.

Credit though, he seems to understand the problems at the club unlike most WC supporters and Im glad he listened to my idea for them to trade Darling. I think his hate for Le Cras is a bit ott though. Le Cras is not great but is still miles better than Balla and we gave him an extra year. I think they will too.

Saved us getting beat by the Hawks again though.
Yeah thats my retrospective view of looking at that loss, yes we should've won but i think ultimately it was (even tho we still failed to beat the hawks into the future)probably a better result for us (supporters certainly anyway)sanity..... that would have been 3 straight years getting knocked out by the hawks in finals...arrrgh,their supporters have been unbearable enough over the journey

Trading Darling would be the absolute height of madness. Yes, he goes missing (did kick 2 to open the Port final though). But he's a regular 40 goal forward in that number 2 KPF role. That is a player that about 14 teams would kill to get their hands on - 14th and 15th in the entire AFL for goals the last 2 years. It has been 3 years since anyone on our list kicked that. Add to that JJK being 30 and them not having another genuine KPF prospect (Allen doesn't count) on the list. Yeah, yeah gameplans and midfields. But that's the ultimate robbing Peter to pay Paul and they'd be even more one dimensional up forward than they already are. Trade Darling and you may as well do a scorched earth and throw away the whole ******* list.

Gaff on the other hand... you could cover his loss reasonably easily and he is the epitome of the 1-dimensional midfielder problem that plagues their list.

Darling is a flog, but you'd be stupid to trade him out. Kennedy retires in a few years and you're left with nothing.

But Darling is the epitome of a front runner, ducker and shirker that plagues their list.

Trading out a midfielder when you so desperately need midfielders doesn't make sense. As you said yourself, Darling has very good trade value despite his habit of going missing and shirking contests, so why wouldn't you ship him off and get a mid in.

Once Kennedy starts deteriorating Darling will struggle big time and his value will tumble let alone relying on him to carry the forward line after JK goes.

let's hope they do something stupid :)

But, amusing reading in that article and others. All the hype got to their heads over the last fortnight, and now they turn savagely and go a bit overboard with the opposite - saying how shit their list is and hoping they can rebuild in just one draft/trade period, by pulling off some amazing trade coups. Frankly most clubs are lucky to get one Collingwood/Chris Mayne type deal per decade, let alone about 4 in the same year.

Holy $hit the eagles board is getting crazy desperate.Suggestion of trading in Fasolo & Hartung.

The eagles just need to except that their flag window is shut and need to embark on a full blown rebuild.
Not the worst idea. Fasolo is a good player and at a good age. He'd replace LeCras and be a tremendous upgrade. I'm hoping we target him, muc better than Croz and Ballas. Hartung is a spud, but fills a need for wet toast, if they get him for cheap, then why not.

While there were a host of disappointing efforts, Walls pointed out five individual Eagles that concerned him: Lewis Jetta, Jamie Cripps, Jack Darling, Jack Redden and Sharrod Wellingham.

“These players worry me,” Walls told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

“The lot of them have to have a harder edge about them if West Coast is going to be a successful team.

“I just don’t see a really fanatical, aggressive, going-to-die-for-the-club approach with those sort of players.”
