West Coast Pick #34 Select

Jack Petruccelle
185cm 78kgs Wing/HB

I was hoping this Kid was not taken until #34 , Fastest player in the draft and 2.82 20mtr with a fantastic leap and former basketballer that came into the game later than the others.

Needs to read the play a bit better but can see the upside, Will be extremely handy across HB or Wing and also has the ability to kick goals running fwd

Sydney

Pick 35: Harrison Petty

KPD that I rate as one of the best in this pool. Plays a lockdown roll well. A player swans can develop to replace the aging Grundy when he hangs up the boots.

Just a side note on the Father-Son bidding and an over-thinking unnecessary monologue.

I can imagine any player who has been touted as in contention for pick #1 who then slides a few places always harbouring some small resentment against the teams who overlooked him. That's fine, can build a competitive hatred against those teams. Possibly Dusty feels a bit of "**** you Melbourne" whenever he pays them, (as well as enjoying don't-arguing Scully at every opportunity and turkey slapping the little bitch with his impressive array of medals and awards).

However, what if your own team attempted to select others before you? It doesn't seem to have affected him, but I know Rioli has been asked by media how he feels about us bidding on 2 other players before we selected him. We ran the risk of him not only resenting clubs who passed on him, but a double "**** you Richmond". You hope if anything that helps motivate players, but they are young, inexperienced, emotional, questionable resilience, etc......

So anyway, representing Melbourne in this phantom draft, I bid on Naish then selected O'Brien. I'm now rethinking that decision ( not trying to retract). I knew the Naish bid would be matched anyway, so why make any risk (however small) that O'Brien comes into the club with the mindset that he was the "consolation prize" as we rated another similar player higher. It may have been different if you bid on an outside player, it's matched, and you then select a completely different type of player - that is no longer a direct comparison.

So in conclusion, I could have just said what plenty of others have said in "Father-son bids always seem to come later than expected".....

Pick 36 St Kilda select
Jackson Ross (Vic)
Outside mid/general forward
192.5cm 74.5kgs
Recruited from eastern rangers

richoatthedisco
Sonofabitch, that's who I was going to pick!!!

Cats instead draft Nathan Kreuger, a 195cm, athletic, talented, key position prospect who can play either end and possibly even midfield. Has a great pair of hands, good skills, excellent pace and agility. Still a but raw, but plenty to work with.

smurfin

Whilst i know its melbourne's pick and we are waiting on smurfin, west coast selection is just after that so i will make a bid by west coast on GWS Academy player

Nick Shipley
189cm, 90kg former soccer player surprised with his 2.97 seconds for the 20-metre sprint, finished in the top 12 per cent for the 2km time trial and the ‘yoyo test’ as well as scoring 26 out of 30 in the kicking test

If GWS ( Butler40) Do match this bid then my selection will be
Tom McCartin - 193cm 85kg Geelong Falcons
Another Bottom age kid and brother of StKilda Paddy , If this kid was born 2 days later he wouldnt be eligible for 2017 and would be in 2018 draft

Big Tank and good pace has midfield ability as well as a defensive game,West Coast would be extremely happy with either Tom McCartin or Nick Shipley at pick #39

Melbourne.

Will be desperately trying to emulate the Tigers.
They just gave away for peanuts an over-rated scapegoat forward who had some ability but lacked heart and effort and epitomised everything that is wrong with their culture (ala Tigers last off-season).
Got rid of Jake Spencer, but not after another ruckman. Will go with just the one ruckman next season (ala Tigers).
Only have Jesse Hogan as a key forward, no need for a second one (ala Tigers)
Have just paid through the arseh*le for Jake "Rance" Lever who they assume will outRance Rance himself.
And so, in this one draft they are after small forwards and then they can change their name to the Melbourne Tigers and start organising their 2018 Premiership memorabilia early.

Pick 37
Gryan Miers
177cm forward with goal-kicking ability and x-factor.

Unsure about defensive pressure, but don't expect Melbourne to fully grasp the Tigers model of success.

GWS picks #55 & #63 have been used with #66 coming back with the remaining points - Definitely worth matching
Effectively getting a #39 player for #55 and a 3 position downgrade on #66

Collingwood is UP !

I think you did well getting Tom McCartin I have heard really good things about him. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in the top 30 in the real draft.
