Pick 8 - St Kilda
Hunter Clark
POS:
Half-back/midfielder, Ht 186cm, Wt 79kg, DOB 26/3/1999
From Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country

Versatile player who played Half-Back at the start of the year before pushing into the midfield in the second half of the year where he put up some big numbers. Has the perfect inside outside game and is one of the best dual sided kicks in this draft. Is as hard at the ball as anyone in the draft pool but has the run and outside skills to make an impact. Perfect player for the modern game as he can play mid or back and has a simular game to Easton Wood as a defender and Rory Sloane with a bit more dash in the midfield.

Andrew Brayshaw still being available was a big option at 7 or 8 but went with Brander and Clark.

Over to you Pablito

Pick 9 Western Bulldogs - Andrew Brayshaw

Edited:

Somebody I rate in the top 5 in the draft. This is a best available pick.

Simply put he does it all. He can play inside and out, rack up big midfield numbers, uses it well, tested very well at the combine and will be ready to step into most midfields in round 1.

Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders with leadership qualities also.

Jeremias you're up

Pick 9 Western Bulldogs - Andrew Brayshaw

In years to come, the Western Bulldogs phantom recruiters will look back on this phantom selection and be amazed at what a phantom bargain this was.

Pick 9 Western Bulldogs - Andrew Brayshaw (at work reasoning will come later)

Jeremias you're up

boooo, why couldn't you let him slip 1 more spot !!!!!!!!!! :p

EDIT. Could you imagine if we walked away with Dow and Brayshaw with #3 and #10 !!!!!! Would got a long way to setting up our midfield for the next 10 years.

Pick 10 - Carlton - Nick Coffield

A few surprises already leaves me very happily able to select a player I would genuinely love to see in navy blue.

Ideally for me I'd love Carlton to take one of Stephenson, Clark, Brayshaw or Coffield here. With three of them gone, the fourth is a formality for me.

There seems to be a fair bit of talk that we'll be into Fogarty in a big way here if available - we may even jump on him early at pick 3. But as was the case with my previous selection, I am going to ignore the talk and go with the higher rated prospect in my mind, for whatever that is worth (not much).

I expect Carlton to probably go Fogarty here but I do worry about his place at AFL level. Is he a forward, defender or midfielder? He has spent time all over the park and doesn't seem to have a clear position going forward, which does concern me.

On the other hand, the more I watch of Coffield, the more I like. Just seems to tick so many boxes for a prospective draftee:
- Flexibility. Most suited to a role at half back right now, but I see definite midfield scope down the track.
- Skills. Excellent kick of the football and regarded as being one of the more skilled players in the draft.
- Speed. Finished top 10 at draft camp for 10m sprint (1.73) and 20m sprint (2.91)
- Footy brain. Can read the play with intercepting being a real strength - something we clearly value at the club.
- Leadership. Has leadership potential having captained the Northern Knights TAC Cup side this year.
- Motivated. Endurance is a noted weakness but he is reportedly already working on improving that in his own time.

Also looks to be one of those players who just seems to have time every time he's on the ball. Very much like a Pendlebury who can make the game stop around him, something which I've seen a bit of in Williamson too. I love that in a footballer.

Coffield has a fair bit of development left in him but he's a big boy already and I certainly think there's a good chance he can feature early on at AFL level.

Maybe not the time for it but I'd be thrilled should Carlton be able to take Dow and Coffield at 3 and 10 next Friday.

Next up... Soapy V

What a strange draft so far. Hope the real one is as all over the place.

Pick 11 - GWS
Darcy Fogarty

At 192cm & 90 kg he is a big bodied ready to go mid. Very good kick. Some believe he is Top 3 pick and I am of a similar belief. Nearly got to the Crows but if available at 11 GWS could not go past him. At worst will be a very good AFL player

I was targeting another big bodied mid (with knee issues) that I was about to pick but I can't go pass Fogarty

Thanks for tagging in the Peanut Gallery.

Can't throw insults if I don't know the thread is up and running. fmd

Pick 12 Aaron Naughton.

Adelaide would be surprised he survived this long and with Lever leaving for Melbourne this seems like a logical choice. Also considering Bonar but I think Naughton is the best available for Adelaide

Pick 13 (WCE) - Aiden Bonar
Height: 189cm
Weight: 87kg

A tall, quick and skilful mid/forward whose return from an ACL has limited his game time this year. He in my opinion is the best available player at this pick, and would add some much needed high end talent to the Eagles' depleted midfield - plus how tantalising is the thought of Naitanui palming the ball to Bonar, who bursts out of the stoppage and nails a goal from 50.
