Pretty disappointing for Perth if true, particularly since Graham signed a three year contract. The last week hasn't been great for the Demons, they lost their practice match to Peel on Saturday by 108 points.
Too bad that Peel team didn't go to Geraldton.

- Angus Graham has left Perth, one year into a three year deal. Graham has gone back to Melbourne after having lost the desire to play senior football and also having a job which was able to be moved back to his home state of Victoria. The Demons have also lost Clem Smith who is expected to play amateurs this season despite signing a two year contract.
- Perth has gained Nelson Ansey from Swan Districts and also Tim Sutherland from West Perth.
- Charles Le Fanu could miss the first six weeks of the season after injuring their ankles in the Tigers' final practice match against South Fremantle. Jared Hardisty is expected to only miss one week.
- East Fremantle's George Hampson is expected to miss at least fortnight after injuring a hamstring during the Sharks' pre-season campaign.
- Brock O'Brien has returned to training at Shark Park after overcoming knee problems. It was expected that O'Brien could miss most if not all of the season but recent news on the knee has been positive and O'Brien has recommenced training.
- Peel Thunder's Josh Bootsma has retired from the WAFL and has moved to Katanning. Swan Districts player Murray Newman has also retired.
- Anthony Morabito will be returning to full training with Claremont and is expected to play his first game in Round Five. It is anticipated that Morabito will play at least two games in the reserves before being considered for senior selection.

Townsend in The West today had big news for Claremont with Kane Mitchell back from his travels and Subi have managed to nab Ben Newton's signature ahead of South as he returns from a year off to ease the strain on his knee.

The $ubiaco Poachers strike again, this time its Souths that get hit.

Here is a novel idea $ubiaco why don't you just develop your own juniors ?

The WAFL is not a level playing field on so many levels.

Not a good look for the comp with Subi gaining Ben Newton.

I get why players want to play there because they are the strongest team in the competition but the rich will get richer and the poor poorer.

Look at the Demons for example, 2018 will be a long season again. Particularly without Tropiano also.

Well said fellas.
I am no fan of the alignment at all but just as big a joke to the WAFL competition is the whole $ubiaco buying $ucce$$ year after year nabbing lower placed WAFL clubs players thus making them stonger and the rest of the sides weaker!
And the WAFC just continue to turn a blind eye!

Aren't $ubi's days numbered as the seat revenue dies off? Be interesting to see what happens both then and after next season when Schofield takes the inevitable afl gig...

Not too sure SF would miss Newton TBH...but yeah think Perth could of done with him instead of Subi....

We could lose one or more of Kelly/Schloitte/Main, so he would have been a handy replacement.

To think West Coast could still have Main.

As with taller players he took an extra couple of years to develop into his body.

We may have de-listed him at just the wrong time.

I don't remember him ever being tried as a midfielder whilst on the Eagles list though? Might just be natural progression but impressively has improved a lot over last year or two.
