Ahh yes, brilliant, we will now be treated to the incredibly professional display of players having to dodge a football before it hits the ground.

All because of what? Third man up? I thought that only really occurred and ball ups. not really throw ins.
I thought it happened everywhere except centre bounces. I would've thought if the ruckmen can't make it to the throw in it would be redone like a centre bounce.

The logical thing to do is to reset the throw, admit the error and reset. But they are saying that play will continue except no one can touch the ball (ruckman aside) before it hits the ground.

I just (this is my own recollection no stats, may be totally wrong) felt like third man was only really an issue at ball ups.
It didn't happen as much from throw ins. Now they have blanket banned third man up (which I don't have a strong opinion on, I liked it but im not devastated to see it go), but also added as a consequence this rule that a midfielder cant touch the ball from a Throw in?

Its just more restrictions on the game. Which I have issues with.

I agree, should be a reset. Hated 3rd man up. Glad it's gone but this seems daft. You'll get a heap of players holding off and then piling on as soon as the ball hits the ground or you'll get players who can't help going see ball get ball and getting pinged. Hello more stupid free kicks.

They do occassionally reset throw ins if they're really short but sometimes they're just midly short and the ruckmen (being big, slow lumps) can't get to it in time...

This is my favourite photo, look at Jobe go:
Craig Bird is thinking, "I'm gonna hang back here, Jobe's gonna **** things up"
Doise is holding Bird back like, "It's not worth it man, he'll **** you up"
Lungbutter or Zakka(?) on the left is actively trying to save Bird from getting stuffed up by knocking him out of the way
Zachy M's completely overwhlemed about what he's going to do next and is literally frozen in place, and the guy behind zach (hartley?) is just stunned by his awesomeness and has stopped

Watson is going to tear shit up this year, i have no doubt - look at him!
I think Bird's brain (no pun intended) is still trying to figure out what is happening, whereas Hep has trotted off made himself a cup of tea, changed from moulded to screw-ins and still had time to make the contest.

No major goalkickers from the intra club. A couple for Leunberger and Tippa. Seems Watson, Heppel, Leunberger, Tippa and Long were the major players. Hurley kept Stewart quite, Fantasia was wasteful kicking for goal. Hooker did not play

I went today, here is my off the cuff thoughts:

- Long showed some great glimpses, knows how to find some room with baulks and movements
- Watson was in everything, long handpasses were the order of the day for him. McGrath was able to receive the ball without breaking stride while running off half back
- Leuenberger was great in the ruck and up forward
- I thought all the small forwards did well:
Fantasia kicked 2.2 from memory
Walla kicked 2 and set up another
Green got involved a lot at half-forward, kicked a cheeky one out the back but missed a tight set-shot
- Gleeson was my pick for best back on the ground. 5+ intercept marks. Very Clean.
- Good battle between Redman and McGrath

- Spotted Hooker on the balcony, was told he was just being rested.
- Joe looked almost ready and Francis looks 194cm.
- Walla went to the same school as me (after I graduated), so I talked to his mother who I recognised from my time there. Walla is excited but finds the workloads challenging.
- Talked to Karmabomber, talked about Bags reacting to his pictures

They must have gone straight to the tennis after the practice match.......I just passed Laverde, Long and McKenna at the tennis.

Did you see what happened to Hartley at all Harlequin Dream?
Spoke to someone who was there and he thinks it was just a slight hammy, nothing serious.
Reckons Fanta kicked at least 2.4 and was always at the fall of the ball. Not sure if it's a good sign or not but he reckons Fanta pantsed Bags a couple of times
