Stanton.Any idea who won 2km run?
Stanton.
I'm not saying that's what happened. It's just an idea.Of course. Chasing cheap kicks.

1. Ambrose
2. Stanton
3. Zaharakis
Good to see, the other two are expected but I like that he still seems to be pushing to improve, could have slacked off with all his mates returning
Even more suprising was that Alex Morgan came in 4th.

Jobe Watson, Alex Morgan, Travis Colyer and Matthew Leuenberger were among the star performers in Essendon’s first time-trial of the pre-season.
Players completed a 2km course around Princes Park with Patrick Ambrose crossing the line first.
Brent Stanton, David Zaharakis, Morgan and Colyer rounded out the top five.
“We’re really happy with how the guys have returned,” High Performance Manager Justin Crow said.
“We had Matthew Leuenberger run a ‘PB’ (personal best), Alex Morgan really blew us away – he’s obviously had a really strong off-season."
Hamstring problems restricted Alex Morgan to ten VFL games in 2016, but the former Oakleigh Charger showed no lingering effects of those injuries during the time trial.
The hard work the returning players put in throughout the year also reaped rewards, with several posting impressive times.
“It was great to see Travis Colyer in the top five, Jobe Watson ran his best ever time," Crow said.
“A few of those guys have really made a statement early.
“We’re being careful with the football and the change of direction but we’ll progress them over the next few weeks and they’re doing a great job so far.”
Jayden Laverde is the only player on the Bombers injury list at this stage as he recovers from having his appendix removed.
He’s expected to build up his running program over the next couple of weeks.
Players will train as normal throughout the remainder of this week before heading to Cerberus next week for a training camp.
Wouldn't you love to see a complete list? Love to know where all the young midfielders finished. So who were the players that blew up and finished last in the time trial?
Not sure this is the spot but it is the only pre season thread so...
Have had the chance to pass by training a couple of times have have a quick look for half an hour or so. No time to go into any detail about particular players, they all look pretty fit anyway but i have one concern and it seems to be something that has been around our training for a long time from what i have seen and that is during drills the ball hits the ground way too many times and it is not addressed often enough by either the players or the coaching staff.
Now i say this of the back of seeing training from a few other clubs on the odd occasion in the last 5 or 6 years. Managed to see Geelong pre season in 2011 and the players / leaders where very vocal about it when it started to happen too often and the group was called in a few times to address it .
The club i do a bit of part time work for are very driven when it comes to skill level at training with the leadership group getting very fired up over poor skill levels and i saw the Dogs train once last year and the coaches where right onto that sort of stuff.
As far as coaching goes it was always a focus when i was involved at under 18 level. Not striving for perfection but always looking for improvement so the boys have to run hard and follow up if they put in a poor kick.
Just seems a bit odd to me that we are advancing in so many ways yet one of the basics does not appear to be penalized often enough amongst professional players even at this time of year. One of the best sayings in footy is you play how you train so if you come up short in the skill department do not expect it to magicaly improve on game day.
