these poor kids dont know whats going to hit them

their new facility is amazing but the reality is its in a shithole in the southern suburbs like cockburn. then when they play they have travel even further south to a meth ridden cesspool, with the highest unemployment of any perth suburb, in mandurah

all under a coach who values seasoned players over talent youth

mark my words. like i said with weller on draft night, cerra will leave if he's any good. i think brayshaw will too. the only time victorian freo listed players stay in the last say 5 years is when they arent that much chop, as soon as there's interest they're out

freo would have been better splitting the picks

Cerra perhaps but Brayshaw will be a good chance to stick it out at Freo. Lions having him in contention for the number one pick says it all re. Brayshaw's flight risk

Even if people think we took the wrong guy/s, we still picked up two kids who were consensus top-5 talents in this draft. I'll fight anyone who says we "lost", Freo fans included

you wasted a top 5 pick. too bad.

Sounds like every club smashed it

Richmond stuffed up - according to our board we apparently we drafted a future Brownlow medallist first, then we went and drafted another! So they're going to steal each other's votes! Then we drafted 2 or 3 Coleman medallists - God knows how we fit them into the same side. And they're all playing Rd 1, so no one's going to know each other's names.

I still don't know how all the other clubs missed the best 5 players and left them to us.

wc are massive losers... their midfield is rs and they take two kpps... i like allen but brander is a waste of a pick. soft as butter.

Will all be worth it if Liam Ryan finally puts the frenchman out of the side.
I cant watch a WC game while the frenchman plays for them.
And generally speaking I like the french.

You won the flag, you're all feeling good!

I must be one of the only people on Bigfooty who both (1) watches no U18 football and (2) lacks a functioning and accurate crystal ball.

I’d like to thank the 70% of active users who take the time to (1) and possess (2) for using them in this thread.

No idea how North went. Well I hope.

Obviously I am pretty happy with the draft from a Geelong perspective we had three clear needs we lacked a replacement for Motlop as a speedy skilled by foot outside mid and we are thin in that position and we have got an option who should play round 1 next year in Kelly. The go home factor with him worries me but we are in the window so if he can help us win 1-2 flags in 3-4 years even if he goes home later it's worth the pick.

We also lack (partly due to injuries) forwards who can be more efficient in front of goal and we need a lot more forward pressure and in Miers and Fogarty we have covered both bases. Constable is just more a best available but a good pick.

As to other clubs I don't think West Coast's picks are as bad as some suggest I think they all have a good potential to make it (apart from Ryan who I think is a real risk the rest are fairly solid) but to me the mix is all wrong, they have plenty of third talls with Darling Waterman Allen etc I am not sure what another Allen is really for, and they are crying out for mids of Kelly's type and they take 2 tall forwards a medium forward (Ryan) and an outside mid (Petrucelle). Brayshaw is a very good pick but the rest of the mix is wrong. I think they just gambled that we would leave Kelly be and they lost.

I like St Kilda's haul Clark i really rate and I think Clavarino should be rated much higher than people have had him as should Ben Paton. Adelaide only had 2 picks but got the quality 2 local players they wanted and I think both are very good picks. I think Hawthorn have done very well getting Worpel Moore and Ross are all much better players than the picks they got them with and suits their needs well too. I like Melbourne's mix in that I think people would talk about Spargo a lot higher if not for injuries he is a really natural footballer I am surprised more people didn't rate Fritsch higher given the good history with Fothergill-Round Medallists.

Port is an interesting one I suppose when you pick really late you can either go largely for best available or focus largely on needs, I would have said coming in they really needed some sort of mature backup ruck (given Trengove and Lobbe going out and Ryder getting on in years) and instead they pick the ruck of all the rucks in the draft who will take the longest to come on (due to endurance) and 2 half backs in Garner and Barry when they have about 10 half backs on their list already. On the other hand I do rate those three players as much better talents than the picks they cost but they are a weird list fit, it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Carlton is a bit odd in a sense I actually really like O'Brien as a player but I would have thought more clearance mids at 10 and 30 to support Cripps was a bigger need. I actually don't think De Koning is as much of a reach as some suggest he is a good talent but it is an odd pick given the number of talls they already have. It will be interesting to see whether Garlett is boom or bust.

GC for me (and I am not trying to start any fights with GC supporters just trying to be objective) did disappointingly, I am not sure why they held out for so long trying to get a top 20 pick for Ablett if they were just going to use it on a reach pick that no other club would have been likely to pick inside 30 anyway. Ballard has some ability but he is just the sort of inconsistent talent they need less of not more. I rate Crossley but they were always likely to get him anyway. And to have Garlett agree to move to Victoria 12 months after he walked out on them due to homesickness is a pretty big slap in the face to their retention I would have thought.

In all honesty how much have you watched of all these players you have such strong opinions about?

To me it just sounds like you are talking straight up trash! Could be wrong but doubt it.

to be fair, i have praised as much as i have denigrated... i know a bit, not a lot and most of my criticisms stem from the clubs decisions rather than just shithouse players like lob. but dream on, he might even play in the midfield one day. tom williamson will be a better player imo

One clear trend is teams are very wary of going early on KP Fwds after Boyd, McCartin and Schache in recent times.
Brander went higher than predicted recently and about his level. Allen is more of a 2nd/3rd tall option so probably slid as those types often do. Stephenson, Bonar and Fogarty all went in the top 12 as the midfield/tall forward hybrids that I get the feeling will be very popular if available. Richmond took Coleman-Jones and McCartin went to Sydney with decent mid range picks.

I don't think there's an over correction, more of a case there just wasn't the tall forwards there this year.

Explain why you think it's wasted without him playing a single game yet?

who are you talking about?

you could have had ldu or dow and one of the players you took. crazy in my opinion but mathew lloyds brother knows better.

Cerra perhaps but Brayshaw will be a good chance to stick it out at Freo. Lions having him in contention for the number one pick says it all re. Brayshaw's flight risk

Brayshaw's family is originally from WA so has a lot of extended family there and now his brother Hamish is over there too.

Character wise though yeah he seems happy to go anywhere and he definitely speaks well in the interviews i've seen...very well spoken, mature and an outgoing personality.
