Where do you see Z-T fitting in?
FB potential. Another Ridley athletic/intercept/rebound type?
Project player but I saw a lot of Jake Carlisle in him when I saw him live. Good intercept mark and can take a decent pack mark aswell. Doesn’t mind backing into a pack either.

Aside from not getting a KPP, absolutely stunned that we landed Murphy with 39. People were talking about him as top 10-15, even wondering if we'd reach to him with 6. Stephenson, well, everyone will be left wondering (with his heart) but could be one of the best players from the draft.

On another note, who the hell is Will Powell who went at 19???

Was one of those kids West Coast ask to stay out of the colts program. GCS got wise.

Obviously I am pretty happy with the draft from a Geelong perspective we had three clear needs we lacked a replacement for Motlop as a speedy skilled by foot outside mid and we are thin in that position and we have got an option who should play round 1 next year in Kelly. The go home factor with him worries me but we are in the window so if he can help us win 1-2 flags in 3-4 years even if he goes home later it's worth the pick.

We also lack (partly due to injuries) forwards who can be more efficient in front of goal and we need a lot more forward pressure and in Miers and Fogarty we have covered both bases. Constable is just more a best available but a good pick.

As to other clubs I don't think West Coast's picks are as bad as some suggest I think they all have a good potential to make it (apart from Ryan who I think is a real risk the rest are fairly solid) but to me the mix is all wrong, they have plenty of third talls with Darling Waterman Allen etc I am not sure what another Allen is really for, and they are crying out for mids of Kelly's type and they take 2 tall forwards a medium forward (Ryan) and an outside mid (Petrucelle). Brayshaw is a very good pick but the rest of the mix is wrong. I think they just gambled that we would leave Kelly be and they lost.

I like St Kilda's haul Clark i really rate and I think Clavarino should be rated much higher than people have had him as should Ben Paton. Adelaide only had 2 picks but got the quality 2 local players they wanted and I think both are very good picks. I think Hawthorn have done very well getting Worpel Moore and Ross are all much better players than the picks they got them with and suits their needs well too. I like Melbourne's mix in that I think people would talk about Spargo a lot higher if not for injuries he is a really natural footballer I am surprised more people didn't rate Fritsch higher given the good history with Fothergill-Round Medallists.

Port is an interesting one I suppose when you pick really late you can either go largely for best available or focus largely on needs, I would have said coming in they really needed some sort of mature backup ruck (given Trengove and Lobbe going out and Ryder getting on in years) and instead they pick the ruck of all the rucks in the draft who will take the longest to come on (due to endurance) and 2 half backs in Garner and Barry when they have about 10 half backs on their list already. On the other hand I do rate those three players as much better talents than the picks they cost but they are a weird list fit, it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Carlton is a bit odd in a sense I actually really like O'Brien as a player but I would have thought more clearance mids at 10 and 30 to support Cripps was a bigger need. I actually don't think De Koning is as much of a reach as some suggest he is a good talent but it is an odd pick given the number of talls they already have. It will be interesting to see whether Garlett is boom or bust.

We lost Korcheck, Gorringe and Jaksch from our tall stocks and have added Lobbe and De Koning. At the very least we have added a tall forward to play alongside Kerr in the VFL but we are probably also doubling down and seeing who out of McKay and De Koning can become a KPF/second ruck.

We also needed more outside run.

One thing with our 3 middle picks, all kick it a mile with accuracy. We definitely had a plan there.

if you look at this purely from a buy/sell numbers POV...

Richmond paid massive unders for what they got. Hard not to be super impressed
Freo walked away with the two best mids, both of which were touted as potential #1 at one point or another and shouldn’t have been able to get both with their currency

As a one on one prospect, thoughts? Can he play tight and shut down a decent sized forward, whilst rolling off them when he can?

Fogarty looks like a gun. A bigger bodied Sloane.

Crows lose Lever and Cameron.

Get Gibbs and Fogarty. Plus a couple of extra first rounders next year.

Decent outcome. They're due for a good outcome at the trade table.
Cameron into Fogarty is great for them.
I'm still not sure Gibbs was worth the price.
If he is the missing piece in the flag puzzle then fair enough

Dogs easily.
Club rated Naughton at 1, best tall since Riewoldt
Club rated Richards at 2, best mid in the draft, Rayner? Pfft.
Club rated Porter top 20, how the hell did he slip?
Overall, dynasty coming up.

Yeah, bad luck we overlooked him :)
I had this funny conundrum where I could see Brayshaw at 1 but not 2
Didn't think freo would overlook anyone (even Rayner) for LDU
North did well. Thought Fogarty would have been your pick. and Brayshaw would slide out to late top 10

these poor kids dont know whats going to hit them

their new facility is amazing but the reality is its in a shithole in the southern suburbs like cockburn. then when they play they have travel even further south to a meth ridden cesspool, with the highest unemployment of any perth suburb, in mandurah

all under a coach who values seasoned players over talent youth

mark my words. like i said with weller on draft night, cerra will leave if he's any good. i think brayshaw will too. the only time victorian freo listed players stay in the last say 5 years is when they arent that much chop, as soon as there's interest they're out

freo would have been better splitting the picks
Being that the Saints are such a destination club you can pick them at the Saints then like all the others......oh wait.

freo shit the bed as well... dow or ldu? take your pick you nutters
Brayshaw > Dow.
I would have been happy with him at #1.
LDU a clear #2 though. Still, not too bad
Cerra is a talent too. Did well not to screw up two top 10 picks
Can't say I was that enamoured with Logue last year. Athletic freak but he looks a little lost out there.

What an absolute heist.

Still can't believe we got LDU at 4.

******* hnnngggggggggg

Bad luck Freo

I know you guys are delirious right now, but I feel Brayshaw and Cerra complement our current & future midfield rotation more than LDU would've, much as I like him. We already have similar types in Fyfe/Neale/Blakely in there, we needed a bit of polish which is something you can't really say LDU has at this stage. There's also a little factor called retention, something you Vics just aren't as appreciative of; AB is the obvious pick from that angle. lots of water yet to go under the bridge but I think both clubs will be happy with their picks in the long run, all trolling aside ;)

also i don't understand why you aren't more thankful towards GC, without whom this never would have been possible

Absolutely ecstatic.

Had Dow as the best player in the draft with O'Brien a close 2nd.
Wanted Cerra badly but alas, didn't have the picks to get it done.
Rated De Koning as the best key forward/ruck prospect in the pool.
Schumacher is an astute pick up in the mold of Williamson last year.
Garlett is a wait and see proposition.

I reckon AB was partially viewed as a bargaining chip.
Any vic metro kid is gonna be a flight risk.
If you're gonna get one, why not the one Melbourne would be keen on if you decide to chase hogan
Might seem a little fantasyish, but brayshaw v LDU was a tight call for me. Thought Brayshaw could go 1.

And really, if anyone should be asking a question about skipping on LDU, it's Carlton fans. Dow was the second choice
LDU for me.

O'Brien is good, but better than LDU, Rayner, Brayshaw, Fogarty?
Dow is a good pickup. I'd have gone LDU, but they're a similar class. Dow and Cripps strike me as a nice Lewis/Mitchell style combo
Inside midfield is set now. As is your backline.
Can now focus on developing the outside and forward line

I was kidding with that initial part.

O'Brien is the best kick in the draft though and his athletic profile is top notch. A Gaff/Scully type would be terrific for our midfield.

I wasn't a fan and still not on taking such a risk on Stephenson but Hine and co seem to be very confident and happy with the first two boys in Stephenson and Murphy.

Here's hoping he got this one right.
