I don’t follow the kids like some, why would you say we won? Surely teams with a couple of picks in the top 10 would have got better value with their picks?

Kangas - I know they rated Dow at one, but LDU is just about the best they realistically could of hoped for, pretty good consolation prize.

This winner and loser stuff is all a bit silly at this stage, however, I am pretty stoked as a supporter of a club that was in desperate need for a good midfielder.

The kid we got at 62 also has some eyebrow raising traits.

Hard to rate a draft on draft night.

For Melbourne though, it's come off in a very interesting way. Two smaller outside types in Spargo and Baker. Given Baker was rated by many as going to us as 29, to get both him and Spargo is a pretty damn good outcome.
Fritsch is a deadset gun, it's going to be interesting to see if he cracks the 22 immediately more than anything.
And Petty is a prospect fill for KPD, given Garland retired with his knee it's a pretty obvious pickup as a developmental replacement and depth. Wouldn't expect him to play until 2019 at the earliest but more likely 2020.

Garlett and Pickett looked great in their draft years

Garlett never failed at AFL level. I believe he went home to support his sick mother. I'm confident he can become at least best 22, and if he reaches full potential he'll be a huge steal. I'd rather take the punt on him over Hartung or a Lennon type.

Saints - added 3 great young players, Clark and Coffield make there list look much better and add some really class.
Blues - turbo charged our midfield, LOB ball uses is awesome.

Freo - with the picks they had, should have done much better, wouldn't have taken Brayshaw in the top 10
Swans - two pretty big reaches IMO.

Think Port did pretty well. Lobbe out Hayes in is a neat outcome for a late 40s pick. The others mostly show a focus on good ball use and outside speed, definitely two areas we needed to improve on.

They have the weakest key tall department in the league though. They need a FF, CHB and FB for the future. They only have a CHF in Moore.

It's just a bit of fun, obviously no one is a winner or loser yet. North supporter should be over the moon to get LDU at pick 4 was a gift, I rated him and Dow as the best two midfielders in this years draft with not much between them and clearly a level above the rest.
I get to a few North games, so very much looking forward to watch LDU next year, not sure about the Will Walker pick, but only cause I haven't seen much of him.

Brayshaw was happier than almost any draftee.
Cerra also happy, but probably also thinking about moving state and another million things going through his head. Saying he's Looking devastated is stupid.
