Instead of being a smug little campaigner who replies with “Lol” when he doesn’t agree with someone. How about you add to the discussion and explain why you think a run of the mill midfielder like Worpel would be redrafted over a 6 ft 4 KPP like Naughton who in his first year was 4th in our best and fairest In his first year. And in his second year he’s coming second in contested marks as a forward and has had 20 shots on goal.

Because you're a dogs supporter and have Naughton as your profile picture.

That’s bang on? There isn’t a recruiter in the country that would draft Worpel > Naughton. And you would be wrong to even suggest that there would be.

Naughton has a higher ceiling and in 2-3 years time he might climb the pecking order, but as of right now Worpel is a better player. It’s not that difficult to understand really.

As of right now, worpel isn’t a better player at all. As a KPP Naughton is having an impact that’s rarely ever been seen for a teenager KPP. While Worpel is just another run of the mill midfielder whos a player we’ve seen a thousdand times before. Before you comment you should actually want Naughton play.

Slight Bias, but Wil Powell wouldn't be far away from top 10 in this draft so far.
Yeah you're bang on there, Powell probably 11th from that draft and could really interchange with any of 8-10

LOL here we go again.

Naughton is a key forward who has kicked 1 goal or less in over half the games this season. His hands are stuoidly good and he has a huge ceiling but man you seriously overrate his current output. If he can keep playing like he has over the past couple weeks sure i will agree but they are the outlier so far.

Also you may want to take your own advice here mate because not all that many mid's that average 25 touches, 12 contested and 5 clearances a game in just their 2nd season in the AFL. For comparison Cripps went at 24 touches, 13 contested and 6 clearances. He is having a great second season and you do not need to downplay it to talk up Naughton.

I wasn’t downplaying it at all. But it’s a lot more common for second year midfielder to do what he’s doing than it is for a KPP to dominate up forward and back. And while playing forward being the teams #1 forward with the oppositions best defender playing on him all game. Yeah. Naughton has had some quiet games. But how many KPF’s have ever entered the league and dominated every week? I’ll say none have done it.

1. Kelly
2. Stephenson
3. Naughton
4. Cerra
5. Brayshaw
6. Rayner
7. Fritsch
8. Dow
9. Ryan
10. Worpel
11. Taylor
12. Miers
13. Constable
14. LDU
15. Richards
16. Bailey
17. Petrucelle
18. McCartin
19. D.Fogarty
20. Clark

Looking like a pretty deep draft. There's a few others who would be worthy of a top 20 spot but couldn't fit them in.

Hey just trying to find B&F results - anyone got an idea where Naughton finshed last year?
Have no idea. But he’s having a better season that your FF is this year. If only Naughton dived for as many free kicks. He would have him covered for goals as well.

So at this stage, the only players that look like they'll be midfield starts are Kelly, Brayshaw, Cerra and Worpel. Maybe Richards? Do Saints fans see Clark and Coffield making a move to the midfield eventually.
The rest of your post regarding 2017 draftees that can play mid has been pretty well covered. To answer your question re the Saints draftees:

Watched Clark play as a mid in the VFL last week and was probably best on (from what I could see he went head to head with Sier and IMO beat him). Problem is when he plays AFL we keep playing him half back / half forward / wing, and he never seems to have a defined role for longer than a quarter. Give us a new head coach that more easily trusts young players in key roles, and I am not at all worried about him becoming a quality long term mid (despite the crap that Barrett has started spouting).

Coff is a completely different prospect. We made a lot of noise about him being a mid long-term, but this appears to have shifted. Was training as a mid all pre-season, but since Robbo had his second heart issue we appear to have shelved that plan and are grooming him to play the distributer role off half back. Coach currently has him working on his defensive craft / accountability. Personally I have issues with how he has been handled to date, and I think we have contributed to his current struggles for form. Would like to see us can the mid idea permanently and set him up as our main distributer off half back long term. If we get that right (big if) he pretty much becomes a like for like replacement for Roberton (who may never play again sadly).

Yeah 14 goals is much better than 21. All them frees :drunk:
Ben brown has less inside 50s. Score involvements, goal assists, disposals, contested marks, disposal efficiency, marks inside 50 and metres gained. How many more free kicks has Ben Brown got ?

The majority of the stats you just listed are completely irrelevant for a key forward...

Ben Brown has more goals. That’s all that matters.

Top 20 based on current form/exposed form:

1. Kelly
2. Stephenson
3. Worpel
4. Naughton
5. Fritsch
6. Mihocek
7. Rayner
8. Cerra
9. Miers
10. Ryan
11. Brayshaw
12. Dow
13. Taylor
14. Constable
15. Powell
16. Holman
17. Higgins
18. Bailey
19. Richards
20. Gowers

On the cusp: Petrucelle, McCartin, Balta, Baker, Clark, LDU, Ballard, Langdon, Allen

Dow the only one here that should be a lot higher, but has such shoddy disposal, that it brings him down. Will definitely rise in the next couple of years, but his decision making and his disposal is not at that top 10 level right now (partner is a Carlton supporter, so I watch every game pretty closely)

To the Worpel v Naughton argument, Worpel has more notches in his belt right now, but Naughton could overtake him, and soon, if he continues to perform as he has the last month or so. People need to calm down, lol, as this is something that probably will change again by the end of the year.
