Draft Review 2017 - Revisit the 2017 AFL draft

All my comments since mid year have been about exposure form. I've mentioned it frequently.

Why are you quoting me if you're not even talking about the points I've made in this thread.

You have lost the plot.

Exposed form?
Did you not read what I said? What is it about "If this draft were done today" you are having difficulties understanding, my Hawthorn supporting friend?

It's pretty funny when you have no argument that you need to piggy-back on a Geelong player to cling onto your e-pride.
Or maybe he isn't clinging to anything and he just thinks that Tim Kelly is... You know... The best player from the draft.

Worpel by the length of the Flemington straight.....And a couple of other also rans named Naughton & Stephenson to fill the minor placings.

Perhaps one day they can win a club B&F also....Both have a lot of catching-up to do however.

Here are Worpedo's stats for 2019.

Would take Stephenson and Naughton first.

Would take Stephenson and Naughton first.
Good players Stephenson and Naughton, I had the 1 and 2 if I was picking for potential and exposed form. Had them 3 and 4 just on exposed form.

Have you posted a list yet?

Edit: just dont follow tig017 lead and say daylight between the top 2 and Tim Kelly.

Anyone acting like Naughton, Worpel, Kelly and Stephenson aren’t all in the discussion for the best from this draft is kidding themselves. Comes largely down to needs but they are all outstanding prospects.
Worpel just seems like an early bloomer of a midfielder. Not that special of a prospect at all. Really torches the footy.

Numbers aren't everything.
No but he was not just putting up big numbers, he was also attracting a tag towards the end of the year which would suggest he was rated by the opposition coaches. Won a B&F in his 2nd season. Polled 35 coaches votes in the last 7 games of the season.

He was carrying a huge load and going head to head with some of the best midfielders in the competition. Not many 2nd year inside mids manage that, who knows where he will end up in this Draft class in 10 years but what he has done so far is definitely pretty special because it is very rare.

Yeah, he was good this year. Doubt he ends up a special player overall. Just seems like a good inside mid that sprays the footy.

Once Lenny Hayes was thought of in this light.

I much rather rate players on exposed form rather something so arbitrary such as potential ceilings. But the league is riddled with players who smash through these ceilings. If worps can or cant that's up to him.

I probably shouldnt comment without hearing sound but in no universe do we take LDU ahead of Brayshaw if the draft was re-done at this stage.

Given AB will be starting midfield for the rest of the year, I'm confident that wont change by the start of next year either

I love young Stevo, terrific combination of pace and endurance plus skill. Worpel has done more to date by being B tier for most of his games but does not enter discussion with Kelly Stephenson or Raynor for class. As much as I rate Stephenson (his first quarter vs WC in the GF had me with tears in my eyes) I think Raynor was correctly rated the top pick and is an absolutely terrifying prospect. I expect Stevo and Raynor will be as good as Kelly which is saying a lot, the boy is a gun. Haven't seen enough of Naughton but he's obviously class as well.

Going to be interesting from a Freo perspective where Brayshaw and Cerra are at the end of the year. Both look like they'll be starting midfielders with Fyfe if pre-season is anything to go by. We'll know a lot more about how we went in the draft by round 22

Hunter Clark continuing his form from the 2nd half of last year and looking ridiculously good. Just oozes class.

Now has something resembling an AFL body, too.
He looks terrific, he's on my DT draft short list this year for players that others will miss and I can get cheap

I hope they ease Cerra in. I think he needs a bit more time off HBF
