Draft Review 2017 - Revisit the 2017 AFL draft

At this point, Taylor is clearly the best of the draft in my eyes.
Ive wanted to say this for a little bit, but I am clearly biased, so have toned it down. Ive said from 2020 I wouldnt swap him for anyone. Im really happy he is getting th erecognition he deserves. Being both a back and a Giants player lends itself to flying under the radar for those not at the pointy end of the draft.

Now Daniels is finally getting an injury free run, people are seeing he is a really good player as well. 2019 and 2020 he was exceptional. Pretty much injured the ruined all of 21 and 22

Haha you've put Guelfi in pretty much the only position he hasn't played for us.

Id have Cam Rayner ahead of lots of guys in the first team.
He is a very high quality player.

I miss Tim Kelly

Sam Mitchell and another retiree of that year the coaches.

He is a very high quality player.
Im not sure where he fits to be honest. Fritsch, Bailey, Miers, Mihochek and probably Moore have outperformed him for forward spots. And Rayner isnt demanding a midfield spot at the moment.

Still needs to do a bit more

I think lots is a stretch - who are the players you are taking out for Raynor?
I'd have him ahead of all of Daniels (who I love), Ryan, Moore and Miers (who I love), in a real life scenario if these guys were your squad you'd shuffle some players around (or even play Rayner on the half back flank) ahead of Powell and Richards to include him and possibly Baker.
Since he went 1, everyone focuses on what he doesn't do and not what he does. He a quality player.

Ryan has an AA spot, though it remains to be seen if he ever gets over these injuries and I'd really struggle to take him over Moore who I think has done more for longer as it stands. I'd probably still agree on the other two who are more excellent role players that are easier to find

Raynor at half back over Richards is a laughable take,

I wouldn’t have him ahead of those 3 or 4 guys at all ….

That first team is too tall. If you're actually picking a team you wouldn't have 4 key backs plus 3 key forwards along with Fritsch and Ryan.

You'd drop 1 of Balta and Ballard. Then Allen and Naughton probably squeeze out Mihocek. Replace those 2 with 2 of Rayner, Worpel and Farrell who are the best smalls from the second team.

Could even argue to leave out one of the small/medium forwards to include all 3 since the team looks overloaded with forwards and short on players who can go through the middle.

This is a very good effort.

Admittedly I'm biased, but I'd have Petty ahead of Ballard.
