We have some solid rookie players with potential for elevation. I expect a few retirements/list changes next year including some or all of our 30 plus crew (Sandi, Johnson, Mundy, D. Pearce, Spurr, Ballantyne).

:thumbsu:, the chemistry and bonding already there , just need to learn the game plan Freo or Peel .

Really do like Freo's strategy and awareness they needed inside left footers. Would be interesting to see break out numbers for left and right from the centre in Freo gmes last two years. In some of the SA clips Crowden and Giro do it well. Shipley was another saw doing it in his highlights. Would bring Stephen Hill more into things I suspect.

Are there any highlight packages of Banfield? Loving the addition of Giro to our Neale and Crowden SA connection

Re: left footers

What is darcys favourite tap option? Wonder if we can find those stats

Might be a correlation identified by the club that left footers will link well with him

Who knows

Nothing to do with the ruck play what I was referring to. Not just about left footers per se. Their handballs out from centre congestion is very good. The highlights tend to show mainly left field plays. North Crowden and Giro. Would seem more than a conincidence that Freo have picked them in one draft.

So tempted to tweet to him.. karma bit you on the arse, young fool.

Need to point out accuracy of Chris 25 here.... This year early in the season during April when discussions about news draft crop started, I was browsing every week to find out which players do well under 18... In each state... I found name of Stefan giro every week among best in league and reserves with 25-30possessions,and 1-2 goals average.. I was so impressed that I asked Chris 25 in young talent time thread, about giro. He replied giro is very good player but crowden is the best in SA as he is more hurting than giro but also said crowen will go around 50s and giro go very late or rookie..... That's what exactly happened... Chris 25.....he is a legend.....

He's a solid looking, ready to go type isn't he

Happy with those picks
I always like low or Rookie Pick , hopefully all of them debut in some point earlier next year rather than later .

For sure meima, let's have a look at them asap

Interesting our recruitment strategy has gone from skinny HBF to big talls and nuggety inside mid/forward types

The weages seem to like skinny HBF's all of a sudden :D

I have a feeling some of our new recruits will put enormous pressure on the existing playing group

I am surprised we dont seem to have any Category B rookies , other teams are trying them on their list , must be a few potential gems still?

Seem like solid picks but neither seem likely to be playing much footy other than for Peel.
I don't get why we don't take high risk/reward players as rookies. Get someone like Farrant & see how he goes in an elite environment. Or a gangly but high marking tall who is still growing and miles off their best fitness wise. Take a punt.
Giro & Banfield are already elite runners and trainers but neither seem likely to get much better than they are now and they won't a game at AFL for the foreseeable future, just don't see the point.
Yeah I feel a bit the same way. Two more picks with likely role player ceilings. I do like Banfield and Giro but they've got a long journey ahead to ever get a game. I thought we might take a couple of speculatives/project players as well. Although pretty much all the clubs seemed to go 'safe' with their picks this time around. North with Narrier the only slight outlier perhaps? They all seem happy to wait to see how they develop in the State leagues rather than taking any risk. No doubt we'll see a number of names who missed out this year being selected over the next couple of drafts.

The concern I have is players with attributes more suited to AFL vs State league football not ever getting an opportunity. Garlett getting picked up by Carlton is possibly a good example. IMO he's the kind of player that suits AFL far better than WAFL. Still a strange selection making a guy leave his home state when he returned home a year earlier because he needed the support of his family close by. But put that aside I kind of get why they took him despite his poor WAFL form this year.

Seconded. Chris25 was pretty bang on this year. And as an added benefit we're not big fans of his arch nemesis Knightmare after his D+ rating of our drafting. With WC getting a 'B' it really is laughable.
