Gives us a lot of flexibility too, being able to switch May on to literally anyone that is stitching us up.. if Taylor Walker is getting hold of Day then send Day fwd, Martin back and put May on Walker... If Betts is getting loose put May on him... if everyone is doing their job, May will intercept and rebound all day long..

I'd be pretty confident in assuming Ainsworth will be in our round 1 best 22.
Yeah this real close but for Matera. Ainsworth is the footballer matera wants to be when he grows up.
Rocket seems to have ( somewhat strangely) already said Witts will play round one and Fiorini is red hot to be there somewhere..
How the hell do you fit Bowes, Ainsworth, Scheer, Scrimshaw, Brodie into the best 22??
I think Bowes and Ainsworth will make it in. Don't know who they replace though. Will come down to who puts in the best over pre-season I guess. Will be a great battle for the final few spots.

Being realistic, looking ahead to our best 22 for round 1 in 2019, pushing for top 4. A running and kicking team that relies on midfield beasts Lyons, Brodie, and Scheer to win a lot of contested ball and get it to the dudes who can kick it to the #1 (Lynch) and #4 ranked (2MP) key forwards. Martin and Ainsworth and Ah Chee run through the midfield in bursts but most of the time they just take high marks, kick goals, and tackle. Co-captain May admits to sometimes getting bored.

Joyce gets better every year, and his calm assured play is a natural foil to the manic Saad. TheScrim has bulked up and can play as a roving 3rd tall defender, but in this team runs through the midfield.
Rocket enjoys watching the team from the couch. He is getting used to watching his old teams win grand finals not long after he leaves. Swans, Dogs, Suns?
