Majak Daw would be a huge step backwards for us. Reasons being is he just cant play football. Any athlete can jump and with enough practice can mark and kick a footy.FB: Cutler, Close/Walker, McStay
HB: Mayes, Andrews, Christensen
C: Keayes, Rockliff, Rich
HF: Zorko, Hanley, Bell
FF: Schache, Hipwood, Daw
Foll: Martin, DBeams, Bastinac
Int: Smith, Mathieson, William, Paparone
Emergency: Jansen
So my key trade targets:
- Majak Daw
- an experienced key defender in case the Close, Walker back experiment doesn't work
- rebounding defender (this and a Merrett replacement our weakest)
Draft targets:
- midfielders

If we are to play a project player id rather just elavate Archie Smith. In the same ball park when it comes to athleticism and will cost next to bugger all in terms of what Daw will cost.
From what I saw on saturday Close wont be playing down back. Most of the rest of the team looks ok. Id have william as emergency instead of jansen.
i would be for de listing West and having a look at Jared Witts, is only 23 so would not be at his peak yet and even though i have not seen a lot of him to me he looks like a decent back up ruckman. Martin, Smith and Witts would be a good age profile ruck division going forward IMO.Daw is so bloody slow and useless. Good for the highlight count but just does nothing once the ball goes to ground.

Dawson!? Best 22!? HahaHere is my 22 (taking liberties on who we might/hopefully draft)
FB: Harwood, Andrews, Gardiner
HB: Rich, McStay, Mayes
C: Cutler, Rockliff, Hanley
HF: Taylor, Walker, Bell
FF: Hipwood, Schache, Christensen
Foll: Martin, D. Beams, Zorko
Int: Robinson, Dawson, McCluggage, Mathieson
A lot of these were 50/50 calls with another player which is a good sign for depth
Also hoping/assuming we get McCluggage in the draft
Dawson hasn't come on at all like I expected he would.. I thought he was drafted as a midfielder, but hasn't shown anything to suggest he'd be capable of playing there.Dawson!? Best 22!? Haha
I like the senior team, looks pretty close to mine.FB: Cutler, TradedKeyDefender, McStay

FF: Freeman, Walker, Hammelman
Foll: TradedBackupRuckman, Jansen, Pick#2

Trade/Delist/Retire: Green (slow, lazy, hasn't signed), Gardiner (No offensive game, hasn't signed), Evans (overtaken), West (retired), Clarke () Watts (meh), McGuiness (meh), Merrett (cooked).
Trade targets: key defender, backup ruckman, NEAFL captain > coach, wouldn't knock back a rebound defender.
Draft targets: midfielders, rebound defenders

Too many unproven, also rans.Bastinac,Paparone, Robertson, C Beames are well down, hopefully there will be 3 or 4 new faces of real talent ,and Taylor will be running through tbe midfield like he should have been 2 seasons ago.No love for squiz? I'd have him ahead of a few of those players
I can't resist
Andrews frost mcstay
Mayes cutler paparone
Martin beams Rockliff
Rich Zorko Robinson
Christensen Taylor lester

Bastinac Gardiner Mathieson Ainsworth
Pick 16, 21, 22, (maybe Alison) close freeman smith Keays skinner c beams bell Bewick Clayton Dawson Harwood Janson McGrath Robertson.
IMO everyone after skinner on the above is on notice for next season and I'd add lester to the list too only picked ahead of Keays as I think Keays benefits from a season of strength and learning in the reserves. Shame too many of them are signed beyond that. Not saying they are all cooked but need to show signs of life this year.
And that further deep cut next year is why getting a likely top 10 2017 first rounder for Hanley is a great move
