I'am a little drunk, but could you please explain to me wtf is going on in that chart.. all I see is squiggles and dots :drunk:
Someone on twitter explained it as Gawn having the most opponents going 3rd man up. Also Gawn Goldy and Jacobs have least 3rd man up from their team in terms of experienced rucks.

Was hoping one of you blokes might know lol
What I took out of it was that:
Gawn (and Goldy, Jacobs etc.) attend a high number of ruck contests and as topliners have a low % of own teammate successful third man up. Makes sense.
Gawn in particular had a significantly above average % of successful opposition third man up. That now falls away.
All means it should be good times, happy days for the big fella, I guess.

So overall should be good SCwise.
First time i've actually thought a rule change was warranted. 3rd man up was bad.

The Bont got 63 hitouts, and 41% were to advantage.

Thats 26 hitouts to advantage.

Basically 1 per game or 5 points per game.
How many of his hitouts were sharked though? He should probably get a few more points from no longer going 3rd man up as well so I don't think we are looking at a massive change here in his scoring.

think I may be changing my mind on Sandi...was never gonna grab him...even gave grief to the ones who had him:$
now the no 3rd man up rule is here and I'm sure if Sandi had played all year last season, his name would be up the top of the list for the 3rd man against.
big concerns were his body...3rd man change helps the big fella bigtime!
copping less hits to his big frame will help him stay on the park.
If he can give us a solid 10 games to start the year, the money saved on him goes a long way for the initial SC team selection and the money he makes will/could turn him into a Goldy/Stef easy.
He can always be upgraded down the line but he has the potential to average 100-110.that would do as a keeper. Reported to be in good shape atm makes him very very tempting.
very keen to see him on the park...:$

Baring disaster he's a lock for me.
Dont like Goldy or North this year and the rest of the rucks are yuk.

I like Grundy too but can't bring myself to not pick Gawn and Sandi too good of value pick to pass up imo.
Might go Sandi > Grundy during the year if Sandi doesn't explode too early.
Only issue is how many Pies can go 100+ for the year already gonna have Pendles + Treloar, probably won't pick Adams but he'll be there abouts. Have the same issue with picking Doggies players, they'll all score well but with Bont, Dahl, Macrae, JJ, Boyd, Libba, Hunter etc I'd like to give it a few weeks before I bring in too many from the one team.

yeah I got bad feeling about my Roos this year. After dropping all that experience last year, the club better play a bunch of our young guys...Only problem is half of em are still skin and bones. A few should get a good run though. Mountford is meant to go alright according to the North board.I'll have to check him out...
looking for improvement from guys like Dumont, Clarke and Garner who lead the next wave.
Gonna be hard watching Goldy give it all he has and get beaten each week.

..We gave it a nudge for a few years but just couldn't get to the granny. Time to build up again.
Finals aint happening this year!

Also relating to 211 Zac Clarke is injured again, and their other backup ruck(who's name eludes me) is on a modified pre season.
Decent chance they will be screwing maximum game time out of him early in the season. If he is fit he is my r2 solution this year.
I'm not as sold on Gawn. I think he will be top 3, But goldy, jacobs grundy Nichols etc all have the potential to have a huge year.
Ruck is a funny position, the only players who have been clear SC champs are 211 and Mr Cox. everyone else has patches where they elevate to SC greatness then fall back to the field.
I'll still probably end up Gawn/211 but Goldstein has the potential to be a POD this year and given that he played last year injured and still finished R2 I don't see why he couldnt score more for the season than Gawn.

The problem I have with Goldy is he wanted to leave after screwing his way through the changerooms. Any other club it wouldn't be so bad but after the Carey BS it's gonna hurt his rep around North, what's left of it.
His team mates might not look for him so much.

Daw shows something and has to be giving opportunities in the ruck. Less hitouts for Goldmember.

Points per team will be down as North lose more than they win and his hitouts to advantage will fall with more kids getting a go on the ball at stopages.

Sandi is so cheap and his name doesn't rhyme with torture chamber.

I'm locking Gawn in. Then at this stage it's between Grundy and Goldy. Grundy looks to have started to really fond his feet in second half of the year and will solo ruck it. My concerns with him is that his ceiling wasn't huge last year. Possibly due to the amount of clangers he got. Particularly his kicking out of a clearance when he'd slam it on the boot. But he can improve that and work on his contested marking.
Goldy as we've seen has a huge ceiling and I think if he gets fit he'll be a good chance to get back to his best form.

For those considering Grundy, last year his best SC score (in 21 games) was 127. His next best (in descending order) were 116, 116 and 114 then nothing else over 110. The consistency is good, but the lack of big scores is concerning. You would be hoping he improves his ceiling.

In the last 2 seasons Goldy and Gawn (as best rucks in the past 2 years) were legit VC choices. Last year Grundy would have given you 1 score you would have locked as VC and another 3 that are in the uncomfortable range as to hold or gamble.

Yes he might "break out" this year, however IMHO those starting Grundy as a set and forget ruck have unrealistic expectations.
