Going off these injury concerns and my worries about other rucks, I don't think I'm going to play a R2. It's just not worth the hassle.

Jacobs is a lumbering slow ruckman who isn't great around the ground.
Ryder can jump. Mark. Kick goals and due to injury suspension hasn't played for 2 years effectively making him a 26 year old.

Jacobs scoring might come good now with the third man up rule helping him.

Not as silly as it sounds and i am thinking of dumping Goldy and starting one of either English / Cameron / McCarthy depending who plays after the JLT you just need to make sure you have Ruc/Fwd DPP available to switch to whoever is playing!

The money saved allows an extra Premo player in any possy able to be brought in, but i doubt i will do it as it is so hard to find a rookie ruck that is going to play but if one comes up i am all for starting a rookie ruck at R2.

Besides Gawn everyone is either banged up/horribly over priced or just plain rubbish this season SC wise.

I reckon he'll average 90-100 and play 21/22 games, so it's not bad, but I like to aim for 110+ rucks

Taking Grundy means I'll be giving Adams a miss though, as I can't take all of Adams, Pendles, Treloar and Grundy

What you don't want is for him to be "ready" for R1, only to be managed by R3.

I reckon with the no 3rd man up, Gawn is going to sky rocket again.
Had another big pre season, photos of him even smashing himself on Christams day and New Years day. I reckon he will rival Danger for the top scoring player this season

Don't take Grundy

Plenty of other options and ways to play R2

Ryder and Hickey the only other options for me

Goldy, Jacobs, NicNat, Mummy and Sandi injured/underdone; Stef on my never again list

Witts an option if does well in JLT

Tom Hickey will be a decent option at R2 but he is just soooo inconsistent and is capable of a blinder score than be prepared for 4 weeks of around 65 scores.
