Anyone had Jacobs before?
The big ranga may be a solution for my side. Not ideal but who knows.
I had him last year ummm found out too late he didnt have a full preseason,he wasnt good.

God this is doing my head in. I need Goldy to just play one JLT game and I'll back him in.

As much as I'd love to start Goldy, I just can't do it
Knee all last year, ankle at the end of last year, and now still battling the ankle and has missed both intra club matches and been restricted since December

For $590k, nope!

Best case ruck scenario:

Take Ryder at R2:
  • he dominates the JLT while Lobbe fails, cementing him as the number 1 ruck (if he hasn't already)
  • he averages 90-100 and plays every round until his bye
  • trade a maxed out forward rookie to the best available ruck at the time (who goes on to average 100+), swing Ryder forward
Take Gawn at R1:
  • he ends the season as the number 1 ruckman and plays another full season
:thumbsu:

Worst case; Ryder pumps out a couple 50s and then gets dropped for Lobbe, and Gawn does his knee in the first 2 minutes of round 1, on a score of -3, after giving away a free in the first centre bounce :$

When did the ruck scoring change? sharked balls are now -2 points i believe, funnily enough the year Danger leaves Jacobs SC average plummets.

His averages per game really didn't drop that much, laid more tackles and kicked more goals.

I'd put a big line through Sauce, injury or no injury.

Without doubt. Hes got foot tendinitis anyways, even if he was in ripping form I wouldn't pick him. No Danger is a real thing for sauce. Now possibly no Sloane and B.Crouch for early rounds.

Lots of scenarios. What's the verdict

See what others say, but for me:

Pro: Clear no. 1 ruck, no known durability concerns, very solid preseason (knock on wood), good non-tap scoring avenues, coming into prime
Con: Improved in the ruck contest, but partly aided by easy draw in second half of 2016 (didn't really improve vs recognized rucks vs first half, benefited more from Fitzpatrick, Brooksby, Lycett one out etc.). Other rucks will benefit more from no third man up.
Pure guess: Bit north of 100 average, solid R2 if focus is minimizing trade risk while still getting an ok clip.
**** me, I need to take a course in brevity.
Conspiracy theory: Grundys upswing in score happened right after getting whooped by Gawn. Gawn took Grundy with him to the mountain, Grundy has now become the Chosen One destined to restore balance to the ruck.

Think I might just write down a handful of names and throw darts at them.

Hats off to anybody who gets this right. What a joke.
Ha, ha!!;):thumbsu:

Last year there were so many teams simular.

This year its going to be very different with so many teams and stratagies,
will be interesting indeed.

Bring on 2017SC!

So I can get 2018 right.:rainbow:

If he continues to kill the JLT and Naismith doesn't look like returning so soon, I reckon I might take the suicidal plunge of Darcy Cameron at R2. The idea of having an established F4 or a six midfielders at $550k+ is pretty damn attractive.

You're not completely off the deep end, I was considering this too.

If by some miracle Cameron could churn out 6 games from the get go, it could prove to be a masterstroke.

But here's the thing, he's a rookie who has other competition for ruck and Sydney could elect to rest him after 2 or 3 games, which would leave you in a hole.

His competition scares me - Naismith and Sinclair are natural rucks and whilst Tippett is more likely to play forward this year I think, he obviously has a few years of ruck experience. I'm considering Cameron but I'm likely to be scared off anyway. There's never a bigger feeling of helplessness in life than having a donut at R2.

Ryder forward as security?
