If he continues to kill the JLT and Naismith doesn't look like returning so soon, I reckon I might take the suicidal plunge of Darcy Cameron at R2. The idea of having an established F4 or a six midfielders at $550k+ is pretty damn attractive.

Changing ruck combo for the 799th time this preseason.

Give me the meds. :drunk:
Haha there's nothing to change it to, 80% of the rucks are injured lol

I've only gone

Gawn, Goldy
Gawn, Witts
Gawn, Ryder

My current state in regards to Rucks.

..... so you're doing better than the rest of us..... :drunk:

You're not completely off the deep end, I was considering this too.

If by some miracle Cameron could churn out 6 games from the get go, it could prove to be a masterstroke.

But here's the thing, he's a rookie who has other competition for ruck and Sydney could elect to rest him after 2 or 3 games, which would leave you in a hole.
I'm keen on Witts at R2 and Cameron at F6/7 - I'm hoping he gets a decent crack and does well.

Grundy, Sandi, Strindica

Grundy, Sandi, Witts

That the whole list of my ruck tinkering this season.

The webbing injury is scaring we off Witts, even if he plays the remaining JLT and does well
Happened last year and happened again now, bloody shame :(

It's a concern. I'm keen to get a good look at Hickey in the JLT

Yep this is a throwback to a bygone SC era. A rookie ruck is in my side atm. Gawn and Darcy Cameron. Now I can have O'Meara and Swallow, one on field rookie and 3 on the bench through the midfield. This side is edition no. 123 though. Ryder to save the day if it goes pear shaped.

See what others say, but for me:

Pro: Clear no. 1 ruck, no known durability concerns, very solid preseason (knock on wood), good non-tap scoring avenues, coming into prime
Con: Improved in the ruck contest, but partly aided by easy draw in second half of 2016 (didn't really improve vs recognized rucks vs first half, benefited more from Fitzpatrick, Brooksby, Lycett one out etc.). Other rucks will benefit more from no third man up.
Pure guess: Bit north of 100 average, solid R2 if focus is minimizing trade risk while still getting an ok clip.
**** me, I need to take a course in brevity.

Grundy at r2 is my pick.

He's probably still a couple of years off peaking, but his work around the ground is reminiscent of dean cox, playing as an extra midfielder.

Not sure he'll necessarily break out this year, but he's a safe bet to average 95+ with no real competition for his spot, which is good enough for me at r2.

At least you know he's been getting his hand to the ball.

Btw keep an eye on billy longer over the JLT.
He's got himself fit and firing, after injury last year coincided with hickey taking a step up.

He and hick can't play in the same team as neither are even half decent fwds (plus tall fwd line already)... so it's gonna be interesting to see who wins out.
It's hickeys spot to lose, but billy isn't too far behind him.

(Hick and longer are playing together tomorrow night, but that will just be for the mickey mouse stuff, allowing guys like carlisle etc to just play a half)

Starting to strongly consider Grundy. As you said, is probably the most likely R2 to go near a 100 average along with stef and hasn't had any issues preseason. Averaged 107 after the bye last year...hmmmm.

He is my safety pick if all else goes belly up. Witts wil be R2 with Ryder as back up for me. If Witts doesn't impress its Grundy vs Stef.
If Bucks is out half way through the year and they decide to see who else can ruck due to experimentation, what will that do to Grundy? Its a serious possibility!

Can we just forget the rucks and have 27 man squads this year pls SC?

Rucks are so much fun. Lots of risk v reward questions. History says even Gawn is a risk. And some of the cheaper options are very tempting even with injury risk.

It would be good to have a more lenient criteria for R/F DPP players though given we only can name 1 reserve on the ruck line.
