It doesn't make sense does it, but 172 and no 3rd man up rule.

I'd say **** Spencer but really it's **** Goody, useless bloody rookie coach. **** even I have coached longer than him.

Exactly, it should be a piss easy selection like Danger.
It's no fault on Gawn, but geez the campaigners make it difficult to select him.

Principal is the same as Danger.
You know they're gonna drop 50k at some stage but are you willing to miss out on the points.
That's the 50k gamble that will also cost you a trade or make you miss out on a fallen premo.

Start with them. Take the points. **** the haters I say.

Again with the 'missing out on points'. And even worse because you've slotted in the 'cost you a trade'. 2 of the most logically invalid statements spouted around here. I honestly can't believe people still use these.

I know right.
Have fun trying to bring in Danger and Gawn if that's the way you're gonna play it.

If that's the way I'm going to play? You mean instead of saying completely illogical things that make no sense, I actually logically think through decisions and analyse the best option based on statistics, risk assessment and facts?

Yep that's how I'll play.

For the record I have Dangerfield - he's far and away the best captain option and there's nothing threatening his point scoring capacity from last season.

Yeah Im not so numbers based, more football ability and gut feel based coach.

FWIW Spencer isn't a threat to Gawns point scoring ability. He will only play the first 2 games.
But that's only my footy gut feel talking. Some things can't be measured by stats or logic.

ffs, team's always **** around with their ruck stocks during the pre-season, they're not going to make their main ruckmen play 100% of game time and ruck solely in meaningless games. It's a tough position, they're big guys and they need a tank, teams aren't going to burn them out in the pre-season.

One big advantage of going a few Carlton or Richmond players is the peace of mind of knowing who will definately play. Less shuffling friday team announcements and less stress.

Is it just me, or are we seeing all teams move from sole rucking with a forward /ruck ....to two dedicated ruckmen ?

Will it work ...or will it simply allow teams the ability to run the ball out of defense easier ?

Can't see Spencer applying too much defensive pressure?

I think the teams would prefer a second ruckman to be playing forward rather than a forward to pinch hit in the rucks.

Guys like Tippet, Ryder, Petrie in his day and to an extent Roughy and Stanley are fairly valuable for the reason that they can essential hold down a ruck role or KPF role effectively.

Most teams dont have the luxury of guys that are just as effective in either role, so trialing dedicated rucks up forward to see if they can contribute in two roles will still be seen by all teams, as its the most effective way to provide decent ruck assistance without forgoing a players contributions elsewhere.

You dont want to run out with a single ruck option, but you also dont want to have to use you KPP as rucks.
