Sorry Janus but I normally love reading your posts for a bit of a different perspective, even if I don't agree with it. But Lobbe ******* loves Port Adelaide and works his arse off week in week out, despite the fact that him getting picked is slim. In talks with other Port players he's consistently been known as the hardest, or one of the hardest working players within the club at training time and time again. Its fine to attack a players ability to play the game in a place like this, but I've observed you've attacked his character a bit in the past. You're welcome to do it, but I think its more indicative of your attitude than him. He isn't a deceitful guy and loves the club and is constantly trying to prove he's worth the pay packet on and off the field.
I want to see him at another club and I want to see him succeed - he doesn't have a spot here anymore. But I don't think he should be shat on on the way out.
This is exactly the problem. He's trying to prove he's worth the pay packet.

Lobbe busted his butt with second efforts in 2014. That was his go - he was never going to be a great ruck, but he was like a better version of Trengove. And if he had played like that in 2015, no one would have had any issue. I love his hustle in 2014 and thought that with Ryder giving him a chop out he wouldn't be so gassed at the end of games.

That version of Matthew Lobbe, I had a lot of time for. But that version wasn't worth the contract he is on now.

Instead, he keeps trying to prove that he's actually some sort of first class ruck ala Sam Jacobs when he's a grinder. And that's what pisses me off about him. Not deceitful, but completely delusional as to his limitations as a player. Remember, when his agent put the contract in front of him, he would have seen the dollar amount and knew he wasn't worth that. But he still signed it anyway. And if he actually thought he was worth that amount, that's even worse.

Having Charlie and Ken here from the GC could certainly only help with chasing Lynch.

On TRock, let's put his footballing ability to the side for one moment. This man was a skipper once upon a time. We lacked real on field leadership in some games this year, having a man who has done that before and has those qualities can only be good for us. I personally think S2P and Ollie will go to another level with another mature age hard body to not only learn off from a footballing sense, but a leadership one as well.

If your workplace offered you 100k more than you think you’re worth tomorrow, would you take it?

"If they're 0-11 and getting smashed then we'll wait and see.” Tom Lynch’s manager on the Sun re-committing: http://afl.to/2g9Fkok

Could you imagine if the Suns stink it up again next year, Tom Lynch wants out and chooses to reunite with Dicko and Ken? I think I would cry :drunk::drunk:
I know we are talking 2017, but someone mentioned 2 picks this year swapped for a first rounder next year.

Getting a KPF like Jack Lukosius in 2018 would be nice but at this stage he is top 5 and that would be bloody hard to get. But I found this article intially on trade radio interesting and might be more realistic as Tom Lynch will be a RFA next year and sounds like he wants to go to club where he will success. He would be a lot easier to get than a pick in the top 5.

I reckon gold Coast are an absolute monty to finish last next season.

We would have a hell of time fighting for lynch. Vic teams are gonna offer him a million dollars. But we will have Hinkley , finals , and an excellent record at attracting talent. He is well worth a ping even if unlikely.

I'm still pretty confident we'll end up with Motlop and Watts too, based on gut feel only. Motlop has sounded promising from the get go, and i'm hopeful that the penny will drop for Watts and he'll realise how good a fit Port will be for him.

It is looking like on;y costing us Trengove and maybe Impey so far.

If we actually pick up some draft picks or another player for Arch, Young and Lobbe we've done really well.

There was a chance Lobbe could have joined the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2015.

"It was a last-minute opportunity that the Bulldogs put on the table, which was a pretty high first round pick and I think another pick at the time, which Port didn't see coming," Doughty said.

"I tried to get hold of Matthew, I think he was in Vietnam at the time, and I think we were about to fly over with the Bulldogs' recruiting manager (Simon Dalrymple) and CEO (David Stevenson) and coach (Luke Beveridge) to make the meeting happen, but it all fell through.
Doughty says Hinkley overruled the previous trade to Western Bulldogs not Lobbe being unavailable overseas.

Pity we don't have a super duper foot expert/surgeon to guarantee to fix up ex Melbourne player Jack Trengove. Bloody hell he was great player before his foot/navicular bone injury. Listening to him on 5AA he is right, that he wont get picked up as DFA until after the draft, and it might only be as a rookie. One Trengove out and other in, but on the rookie list might be worth a punt.

I might be okay with it depending on how badly our depth/Magpies are crippled with departures.

(Note- I have allowed for the Brisbane compo pick pushing picks back)

Ah Chee - west coast - pick 49

Impey - hawks - 2018 2nd rounder or tim obrien

Aaron young - Gold Coast pick 38

Broadbent - Gold Coast - pick 25

Lobbe - ?? Who ever - ??

Go to draft with 25,30, 38 ,47,49

Or

If Carlton need picks to acquire Kennedy and smith as they only have pick 3 and 39 we trade 25 and 30 for 2018 2nd and 39 That would only work if gws wasn't interested in 2018 and 39 but liked 25 and 30.

Lol. Did you deliberately leave out the next line in an effort to support your argument??

"The coach (Ken Hinkley) decided that he wanted to keep Matt, and that was the end of that trade option.

Davies is a smart operator and I think that's starting to show. We are targeting and attracting quality FA's and our draft strategy has been good. I believe part of the responsibility re-shuffle was to allow Davies more time for AFL Football Ops.

The pick shuffle last year to secure SPP and Marshall was outstanding.
Fast forward a year and a post which starts off with "Davies is a smart operator" has 20 likes and counting. What a world we live in.
