INTeresting fact; if young lobbe and ah chee impey go as expected we will have:

No one/4 from the 2007 draft
Two players/7 from the 2008 draft; broadbent and hartlett
One player/3 from the 2009 draft; pittard
No one/6 from the 2010 draft
One player/3 from the 2011 draft; wingard

Then
Three players/4 from the 2012 draft; wines clurey jonas
Two players/4 from the 2013 draft; amon and byrne jones

To me thats poor talent identifacation scope and player retainment in the national drafts. The picks that stayed were quite high too. Its the main reason weve traded for players quite heavily the past few years to make up for the drafting mistakes

Impey really behaving like a child. We either get a decent return, or he stays, or he retires and stays out of football for 12 months.
getting rid of Impey will be a huge step forward for this club, this guy will never fix his kicking so getting into his hands is a waste of time. If we can get a pick between 25-35 for him it would be a huge win for us

We have craved movement on the trade table, both ingoing and outgoing, especially as we are a bit lacking in higher draft picks.
Last year it didn't happen.
This year it will.
All good.
Impey is talented and promising and fast but there's no point in him staying here if his head and heart are elsewhere.
He won't have the maturity to deal with that.
Hopefully Hawks (or whoever) can give him the level of support and patience our club has.
Explains his sooking in the finals.
However, Ken and CD said they won't agree to any moves that don't benefit both us and Impey, so we need a fair deal.
I trust CD and Cripps.

No doubt you'll get less than what you want and we will give more than what we want for him. 32 seems about right to me as a Hawks supporter. While the consensus on here seems to be an earlier second rounder. So if you split the difference you're looking at 32 and a swap of late picks taking Port up a few spots. Out of interest would a straight swap of Impey for Schoenmakers work for Port? He's a South Australian boy.
Not from my point of view. The rest of your post seems fair.

I concur.

I heard him on the radio on Friday basically saying "I'm doing my best to bring someone with me (back to Melb)"...

I mean what in the actual **** !
...lol dude, he's a bulldogs player now. Impey was being forced out so Trengove said "come with me". It's really not that complex.

The Watts decision appears to be off a bit. Will be meeting with Sydney early next week, and Melbourne want to work him in the Lever trade. If we get O'Brien for Impey, we can forget about Watts. Motlop ..... if he takes the Cow?s 750,000 dollar a year offer, then we trade with Brisbane for ROckcliffe and take the compensation pick. Get Watts, forget about O'Brien.

Not sure to be honest, but talk of a first rounder on your board is wishful thinking in the extreme. Compare Hill and Mitchell and what they fetched in a trade last year and what they had shown up to that point. Then compare that to Impey. At a guess he is worth anywhere between 25-40 but I would guess Port would consider themselves in their window so may push for a player instead
Next year's 2nd pick should sound reasonable and certainly consensus here along with a fringe player. Imp being under contract. Who's on the outer there that could give us some depth?

Bullshit. Theyre no different to any other team. After all they did bring in Tyrone last year. Imp for O'Brien is about as fair as it gets given they are both contracted.
I can tell you right now that O'Brien won't be leaving Hawthorn. We're thin enough on KPPs as it is. Pick 32 is about right imo.

This is very true, and I think one of the reasons we've struggled a bit in recent seasons - the top end talent is there, but we struggled to find solid role players/good "next tier" players and our depth was shallow in key areas.

I think with our increase in resources we've been incrementally improving in this area since 2012, in terms of drafting, trading and player development. Suddenly our trading seems to make much more sense in improving our list, and now we're not only nailing the top picks we have, we're finding talent later in he draft or in the rookie draft with much more regularity (ie Dougal, Houston spring to mind).

We're just starting to bear fruit from this and will continue to do so over the coming years.

At the Magpies final the day after the Elimination loss I had one burning thought in my mind-- get rid of that half-wit Impey.

Glad to see the club has found a way to dish him off. There is a history of Port being ruthless with players who have shockers in finals and with Impey I think it was the final straw.
