I've heard of some ridiculous figures from the cows for Motlop but not $750K. And Brisbane won't trade, they have already said they will sooner have a high compo pick which would mean us losing ours.
Point on trading Rickcliffe. Sorry. On Motlop, I'm working my way upmto a million a year.

Let's face it, it's a good thing that Port BF posters are not negotiating with Hawthorn on the Impey trade. Many of us are so over him, that we just want him out of Alberton. Fortunately, he is Ken's little favourite, so the club will push hard to get good return for him.

Pick 32 on its own will not cut it.
I'm not convinced. He was pick 21 in his draft - 4 years ago. There's no way he's held that value based on performance. Pick 32 is about right.

Who cares who Impey nominates. Just get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him and move on.
I don't disagree but we need to be realistic and acknowledge this is what generally happens.
I think we have to listen to what Hawthorn have to say. Then react accordingly. We'll get at least 32 but I'm not sure Ken will cop that :)

Strange comment. If Neade cements his position while kicking 2 goals/game he absolutely gets a new contract.
If Trengove had kicked 2 goals a game this year he gets offered a new contract...
If Young had kicked 2 goals a game this year he absolutely doesn't get shipped around...
If Ah Chee averaged 25 possessions a game this years he absolutely doesn't get shipped around...

BF that's good enough. Your 2nd pick next year could be 20 could be 30. Now help us with a little depth and we can make it fairly easy on everyone. You don't have a pick this year that works and come Friday Imp is at the Dogs or still at Port. Next year's 2nd reasonable and easy. You are not trading in a player you believe is only worth your pick this year and you don't seriously expect us to accept it. It's a really simple easy trade and it should be done in principle by Tuesday.
Carn.
Lol I'm a Port man.

I think we as Port supporters are best placed to see that Impey is in no way worth $500k a year. Clarkson is not an idiot, and even if they somehow thought he was worth that much, who are they trying to outbid? He's contracted, so it's not like they are convincing him to knock back a Port offer. It just makes no sense.

Yeah if he was uncontracted 32 would be right. Unfortunately for hawthorn he is contracted, and if we don’t get a good deal he will be at port in 2018 (we losing lots of depth so he will be handy to keep for another year)

If we are doing a trade with Hawthorn re Impey i hope we get a draft pick. Forgot the name of the ruckman they traded to us a few years ago but we got bugger all games from him either through injury or poor form. As someone else pointed out hawthorn very rarely trade out good players unless they are past their prime (with the exception of Franklin)

You know that and I know that, but Ken would disagree.

He's played 70+ games in that time, some of which have been bloody good. At the end of 2016, his stocks would have been quite high. His transformation into a small forward had a fair few admirers, including many of the less critical posters on this board. His 2017 form can be explained by his grieving for his father and off-field stressors.

What is the average number of AFL games played for someone taken at pick 21? I imagine it wouldn't be much more than 70 games. Therefore the club can rightly make the case that Impey is still worth around what we picked him for.

That's assuming we actually want to keep him.

Impey's not that enticing a player. Hawthorn aren't paying overs just because he's contracted. I think he'll be moved for relatively little and we'll be happy to do the deal.

We have Tom Heathcliffe in the bag, let's get Motlop over the line so we can all enter party mode
Zakk and Arsene have been trying to get the party started for weeks, but the lid's still screwed tight until we have confirmation and signatures.

Recruiting Watts would make it a bloody fun party.

Yeah but based on what other players have been moved for in the recent past (eg Brad Hill last year straight swapped for pick 23), there's no way we're getting better than pick 32 for Impey. And I just don't think the club want to keep him that badly that they would deny his trade request.

You are a bit too supportive of giving Impey away. What's the real story?

I would say pick 42 but he is contracted and therefore goes for a bit extra

32 is fair. Port don't need Impey, Hawks don't need him. He is contracted but Port won't make a fuss over that.

Edit: Hawks might pay some of his Port salary as part of the deal. Port may need cap space for Rocky & Motlop
If Impey breaks his contract with Port then Hawks will be paying all of his salary. The only way Port would have any payment obligations to Impey is if we delisted him, which we haven't.

That's fair. To be honest, on total year output, Charlie Cameron's not that much a better player than Jarman Impey, and he's definitely less versatile. I'd be pissed off if Cameron nets the Crows pick 18, and we end up with 32 in a weak draft, for our forward line butcher.

IMO Cameron would look shit in our forward line and Impey would play to his potential in the Crows system.
