Re Hartung, WC have tabled a 4 year deal (IKR) and he is seriously considering it. WC seem to be offering pick 30. some sort of 3 way trade seems more likely.

Unless you guys are interest in him and offer him a better offer ($$$).
**** me if hartung is worth pick 30 you'll gag when you see what impey cops

Hartung has reached his ceiling and it's not very high at all.

For us he is comparable to sam gray.

Are there other teams?
If they are willing to overpay why didn't they leave it to Leaver?
Maybe they just found the extra money inside Leigh Whicker's locker. It's not too late to for them to offer Leaver a better contract, find all his B&F votes (probably in Fagan's locker) and redo the B&F.

Haha Derwayne back-tracking a bit...

Back tracking comes fast during the trade period.

Still feel as though we're closer to a premiership than Geelong are. The majority of our key players especially in the midfield and down back are very young, whilst Joel Selwood is still their #2 key player behind Dangerfield and he's 30 next year. They've also got to find replacements for both Lonergan and Mackie, whilst Taylor will be 32 next season and Hawkins will be 30. Throw in the potential addition of Ablett who will be 34 next year and hasn't played a full season in yonks, and you've got a team who could make a very quick fall from grace.

Contrast this with our side, and our only 2 key players hitting 30 next year are Gray and Ryder. I don't really consider Boak a key player anymore as a high half forward flanker. Our mids are incredibly young and our defence is the youngest in the league. So much growth with our squad to come imo.

The article before mentioned it might be Impey for a pick from Hawthorn.

Given he was drafted with pick 21, has played 70-odd games and Hawthorns top pick is 33, i dont see how the deal gets done on picks alone.
Future picks can be on the table too... so maybe a pick in next years draft... say a first rounder (which the hawks will be hoping to be back in the 8 so they would say its a pick 12-18), and we can hope they miss out again so pick 6-12 :p

Carn' they want Motlop because Cameron wants out, Milera hasn't come on that well yet & add Smith as another ball carrier who is out for most of next year.. I'm all for slinging shit at them but they believe they are on the cusp of a flag and are willing to overpay to get it done.
Also Betts and Mackay no spring chickens, Otten near cooked - they did use him as a carbon rod forward a few times and blow me down if he didn't even kick a couple, though not sure if they weren't of the 'Joe-the-very-annoying-bird' variety.

Makes sense for them to chase Mots like this if they think they're that close and he's the missing mature mobile goal kicking link to it all.

They can point to their performance this season.

We can point to their *last* performance this season.

I'd think Motlop is a 600k first year and 450k a year for 3 years after that. Load him up front, but for mine he isn't worth much more than that 450k mark.

Disappointing though that all signs point to the Crows. I really wanted Motlop. Our biggest concern is our outside link play and he is a genuine linebreaker in that role.

Hartung is a crab. If you want the ball moved sideways, then sure go for him.

Interesting that Cooney brought up O'Brien's name out of the blue when that caller was talking about Hawks trade for Impey. Cooney didn't imply that he'd be part of a trade but perhaps there is some internal talk that O'Brien could be part of the deal.

Lol no way the Hawks do even 12-18 in next year's draft for Impey. Crazy Vossy territory.

Well then they can wait... he is contracted to the club, if they want him they have to pay overs, or wait and hope we dont re-sign him during the year next year and he stays in Adelaide for a few more years.

I don't know why the expectation is that the Crows will nab Motlop. I had two Crows supporters come up to me today at work and say "looks like we've taken Motlop away from you". Let's see how it pans out. If we want him badly enough he surely is ours to lose.
