I would highly doubt it TBH, for two reasons. With Fagan in as a new coach we seem to be really focused on playing our young players. We have stopgap serviceable forwards with bigger bodies but we're choosing not to use them which says everything you need to know about where we're at. While Tippett is better than our options the fact is he is getting more and more injury prone so I think you could maybe bank on 10-15 games out of him. That reduces his value a fair bit. The other part is that I'm not sure Brisbane would be looking to do the swans any favours from a salary cap level. TBH i'd be more than happy to let them deal with the issues they've created.

Or if a Melbourne club wanted Jones or Reid we may be able to help them facilitate a trade.

Out of interest would that answer be different if Schache was poached? I mean sure you guys are getting Ballenden who looks very promising but he won't be a player you would want playing in the 1st team much in 2018 if it can be avoided?

On a side note I hope you keep Schache. These bloody Victorian clubs are parasites.

I hope we keep him too, but I honestly don't think it would change the answer if he left. Maybe we'd have pursued Tippett 2-3 years ago (AFAIK we did), but not now.

Michael Close doesn't have Schache's pedigree, but he has shown signs that he could play a good role in the forward line for a few years; especially paired with Hipwood. I really don't think we would spend a big chunk of our cap on bringing in a player that seems to be past their best when there are much more pressing issues for us to address (midfield depth, backline, small forwards). Tippett in form would add something to the side, but when you have to prioritize our cap space I think Tippett would be a long way down it.

Sorry for coming to your thread but on the Swans board we are discussing how our salary cap position is not exactly brilliant, and with both Reid and Jones both getting big offers from Melbourne based clubs the Swans do not have much room in the cap to offer them more. As a result we got to discussing sending Tippett to another club and because he is from your general area Brisbane seems like a logical choice.

Now the odds of this are tiny, really tiny, but if the Swans said you can have Tippett for a 4th rounder in the trade period, but you have to take his entire final year of his contract, is that something Brisbane would consider?
We'll take Heeney and Mills off your hands to ease your salary cap pressure.

Tongue firmly in cheek. Shouldn't take everything so literal Dlanod :)
I find it's rarely possible to underestimate stupid on here. ;)

Great post. You've really done your homework on Parish - sounded like it could really happen! (calm down, calm down) :)

I highly doubt Adelaide would let Cameron go. However we might be able to snatch Impey, if Port continue to slide this season. Then again, he has been one of their real form players of late, right? As such, they might be reticent to let him walk. Then again, if Hinkley goes and he's still unsigned, I am sure he'd be ripe for the taking. He'd be fantastic up forward for us together with Squizzy.

Im a bit nervous about Johannissenn...not the cleanest of ball users and can butcher it a bit. Could become the new whipping boy at the Lions.

Dont believe that's accurate at all. DE% of 82.5% so far this year and averages high 70's over his career.

Who are the Melbourne clubs that have made big offers to Reid in particular if you know? As a Carlton supporter first and foremost I'm all for us chasing him through FA this year. Are we one of the clubs to have made an offer?

Not entirely sure to be honest as all I know is based on what a person on the Swans board who is usually in the know is saying. I think North Melbourne are after Jones and Collingwood fans are discussing Reid but I am definitely not certain about either of those.

Sure mate. No worries.

Even if Martin was available, l don't think we should take him. Fev disaster 2.0. Pretty sure we had the option of grabbing Fev a few years ago in Leppa's 1st or 2nd year when Martin was publically saying he would look at all options. Quite a few whispers saying he would follow Leppa to us but l was led to believe that Leppa said no because of all the baggage he has and how bad it would be with a young list.

I heard there was a deal on the table for him, he was committed then got cold feet at the 11th hour. This I think was confirmed (not by name) in one of the trade period wrap commentaries by Kerr and he described how they had a notable player who was very interested and then had a change of heart late in the game, which left the club having to looking at other options in limited time.

Maybe the GF, where although he won the Norm Smith and kept getting his hands on the pill and worked hard to create play, he butchered it a LOT. Did a bit of the same against NM on the w/e. Just wondering if he would be exposed a bit in a team like ours where perhaps the overall polish and skill level of the on field teammates around him isn't anywhere near the Bulldogs level (yet).

totally agree here. I'd have a go at Gunston. Still only 25

Yep. Fits the age profile perfectly really and is an established player of talent. Our Port pick would probably be enough. Just got to convince him that we're worth coming to.

I got the impression Brisbane might not have been super impressed with how Kurt and his crew handled themselves last negotiations. You never say never, but ..

I must admit I didn't watch him too closely last year but the few games I've seen of him this year I thought he's looked pretty poor marking above his head. Was he better at that last year?

Should we consider someone like Armitage as a senior midfield option?
How olds armo now? Seems like that ship has sailed (sorry for stealing that).

Would be keen on Gunston. Would be interesting to see if we could snag a hawk or w 2 with the fagan connection. Maybe ports first for Gunston and Hodge .
