How olds armo now? Seems like that ship has sailed (sorry for stealing that).

Would be keen on Gunston. Would be interesting to see if we could snag a hawk or w 2 with the fagan connection. Maybe ports first for Gunston and Hodge .
I would take Rioli over any other Hawk.
Although he is contracted.

Also I only think we're 1 good trade/draft period away from filling the holes on our list. Barring a couple of midfielders and small forwards Fagan was actually handed a pretty decent and well balanced list by Leppitch. Although it will probably take another 2 seasons or so to get rid of the likes of Walker, Jansen, Clayton, Frost, CBeams, Bell etc (who people probably know by now I just don't rate them).

On the bright side, imagine if we had Collingwoods list, may god help the man that replaces Buckley next season, that list has more holes in it than swiss cheese.

Worth noting given we traded Hanley for a future pick we are effectively -1 quality player on the list this season which is another positive for building the list going forward.

Put Hanley or say Sam Powell pepper (port picked him at 18 in the draft) into the team ahead of bell or Bewick or clay beams the first 5 weeks and that's improvement and/or stronger future.

Hartung, Puopolo are the kind players we would be targeting. We can just forget about pikcing up the likes of Kelly, Martin, Fyfe etc. We are no chance. Both would add something to our list that we lack.
Agreed any big names aren't coming to us. Hawks might be down for a number of years so some of their players might be gettable for us. So long as the price is right

there's no way id be giving up our 2x 1st roundes or 2nd round pick for anyone, we need to keep building through top 20 picks & 3 more next year will be worth more than trading for any fringe players.

Anything's possible, that's what I like to believe. Besides, the prospect of having a midfield with the likes of Zorko, Beams, Rockliff, Rich, Robinson and Fyfe/Martin is exciting

On the not so bright side, they will be looking at Schache, McStay etc to fill some of those gaps

Puopolo would slot straight in. But the Hawks are pricks to deal with trade-wise, and I am certain they would be wanting heaven and earth for even their second-tier players.

A good alternative would be to pick up a mature ager from a state league...just like we did with Zorko and just like the Hawks did with Puopolo! Or, just go for an early 2nd round lightning-quick small...ala Impey etc etc

Think the Hawks would be the easiest team to deal with in terms of trades. They offer/accept what's fair and get deals done quickly. Essendon on the other hand...

True, there are some other pricks to trade with also. Just thought the Hawks were being tossers with the O'Meara deal; happy to rape and pillage GC without giving much in return...until the very last minute where GC dug in and Hawks had to play ball.

Given the stakes are high if they plummet this season, I could see them either trying to extract absolute maximum value from every trade...or the complete opposite, total fire sale/everything must go for draft picks, younger players etc.

I fully expect them to be one of a handful of teams to come knocking for some of our youth...we will have a fight on our hands this off season to fend off offers for guys like McStay and co.

Yep think its priority keeping what we have. Signing Schache, McStay and Rocky and making sure other players heads arent turned is number one.

Happy to take picks to the draft and add some more talent. Thats not to say if a talented player with a few seasons under the belt pops up we shouldnt consider it.

Also think a small forward could be added late in the draft selecting a mature age player.

They have honestly got nothing to offer for trades for our young guns. It would only be if they can offload some of their established talent. Which in all likelyhood is what they will do. But that didnt work to well last year.
Care factor of around 2 at the club at the moment.

Does anyone actually have a full list of players out of contract this year? I know Rockliff, McStay, Schache and Cutler are, also Jansen, Beams and Clayton I think.

In regards to Rocky if he leaves and the club gets the best compo possible they'll let him go. If not they'll match/force a better trade. He, however, has turned it around and I've been super impressed especially with his attitude and for a young developing team he would be very important and I think they'll also be happy to keep him because of this.

Sign up Rocky as soon as the new bargaining agreement goes through.

I think the Noble / Fagan partnership is a lot more strategic with regards to list build than our previous crews.

With Rocky turning 28 at the start of next year - I'd suggest there's a good chance of an amicable agreement to part ways if the right trade / compensation can be struck :thumbsu:

Rocky can head to a premiership fancy and we get in another 1st rounder

Would be very surprised. We are already the youngest team in the comp I'm not that keen on getting younger.

Depth depth and more depth through the midfield.
Beams Rockliff and Zorko you could all put in early all Australian squad talks but they can't do it for 4 quarters at the moment.
Robinson is a serviceable second tierer.
Then there's the drop off. The best teams just have a bevy of options to go through and make an impact.

Can't see any players in the beams mould to fall in out laps again anytime soon though.. so do we keep trading for your Bastinacs or go to the draft.
