That's a big play for something that you have no idea if it will actually work.
So we could get stuck with lobbe and still get pick 18.
A club wouldn't agree and then "screw" you on it .. even if you couldn't go public on it all the other teams would here about it on the grapevine and you end up stuffing yourself for years to come on potential other deals. For a small win on one deal you'd end up losing for years on potential deals.

Why on earth are we even bothering with Lobbe?
Agree, Lobbe turns 29 early next year so I would assume he would have 3-4 years left, by that time if Archie and/or the big O are not receiving significant senior game time they will look for it elsewhere, if we keep Eagles he can also play in the ruck + Ballenden and Walker for short stints.

The only way getting Lobbe in makes any sense for me is if something out of left field happens ie. we trade Stefan Martin out who turns 31 next month.

Wasn't that, it's more the AFL. Unless they've secretly told port & us the exact value that needs to be reached for band 1

Port could add half a mill to the overall value & we could get the same pick anyway

Pretty sure Lobbe is contracted until the end of 2019? So he would come over via trade not free agency therefore can't effect Rockliff compo.

Where did I say otherwise? I simply said if we didn't get pick 2 for Rockliff then we would pass on Lobbe.

To get pick 2. Read the theory. We bail out Port from a contract they'd love to offload in exchange for them paying Rockliff enough to get us pick 2.

It's a globalist conspiracy. I'm sure Soros is in on it.

To add to this, Port aren't just wanting to attain Rocky, they also want Motlop and Crows are sniffing around with a big offer, supposedly they're interested in Watts and with a nutcase with Koschie who expects wins especially in finals it could really help Port. So what if we pick Lobbe up for two years for $$$. Would pick 19 or 2 be more beneficial to the club? We've finished last this year and 2nd the last two. I hope that we try and play the game and do the best what we can for our club long term.

I reckon any deal will be done with full communication to the AFL. Neither club wants to be accused of breaking the non-existent or secret rules that the AFL are so fond of.
The 'secret formula' might also include potential PPs. No one knows exactly what rules constitutes a compo pick so you can't rule out some clause that indicates that a PP and compo pick can be bundled together to form a compo pick band upgrade. Unlikely but I wouldn't rule it out.

Reading these articles from the Herald Sun and hearing some of the trade radio suggestions has been absolutely laughable

Basically the non-victorian clubs should accept every spud in the league, in exchange for high draft picks. While the Vic clubs should take Schache for 2nd rounders etc. Buckanara said we should have traded in Puopolo and Mason Cox for our draft picks.

Yesterday it was Rory Sloane leaving the Crows (contracted). Today's and yesterdays articles (from different writers), saying Gold Coast should get rid of Gary Ablett for nothing. Why? He's contracted and has a few good years playing left. If he goes to Geelong, they are just going to be super powerful again, especially at home. In recent years Gold Coast have already lost Prestia, Bennell, Caddy, O'Meara, Dixon, Zac Smith and Hickey among others, for basically nothing. No wonder they will be bottom next year.

Terry Wallace saying we should jump at Cameron with Pick 12. If it was the Dogs he would say no more than Pick 50.

Best not to listen to most of the stuff these guys suggest, because they seriously have no idea...

I don't listen to it a lot but the quality of content has hit rock bottom this year compared to last. Lloyd has NFI and contradicts himself so often in a space of 30 seconds.

Time for some slightly unrealistic trades to lightened the mood in this dark hour.

Schache = Collingwood pick 6
We receive pick 2 as combo/priority pick for Rockliff
Cameron for pick 18

We're left with pick 1,2, 6, 12, Ballenden and Cameron

We draft LDU, Dow and Brayshaw. Clark/Boner/Coffield slide to 12.

We win the next 4 premierships.

Done.

Since 2010 Lobbe's played two full seasons and one 17 game season. He's contracted for a while yet and is apparently on a pretty decent wage for a full time SANFL player. He might not be getting Tippett money, but bailing Port out would still be silly unless we get pick 2 out of it. Even then I'd be reluctant, it's a very Cleveland Browns thing to do.
