Would take Hawthorn's 2018 first rounder. Actually think any future first rounder around the 10-14 mark will do it alone for us with Schache

Lol.. every year at this time the next year is going to be a 'super draft'and then ends up being 'weak'. Last year I remember everyone raving about the 'under ages' in the TAC cup system (this years crop) and that Mcluggage and McGrath were were 'weak' top 5 picks and this was going to be the year. i bet this year has heaps of good players come out of it and I have grown very cautious of 'draft experts' changing their tone and forecasting these extremes that rarely eventuate. Its been going on for the last 5 years.

No he was just mentioning it as a what if? i.e. It would make the Hodge/Compo pick scenario even murkier. Don't understand why but that was the inference.

He then said watch this space. Was clearly alluding to something happening between Schache and Hawks.

That's totally incoherent. These people really shouldn't be allowed to talk about the trade period without someone like Brett Anderson on to hold their hand.

Didn't Rocky only recently build his house? Surely dropped a bucket on it and will lose value. Or people will pay the "sports star" fee.

Aish: HAHAHA, pretty sure we're ahead on that trade
Def not the case it's good quality properties in Brisbane, he will make money in it.

hawthorn don't have a first round pick and I'd rather keep schache than take their 2nd which at the moment is 32 and will drop to 34 (they must have swapped 2nds with the giants last year or something)

Can they even trade out a first next year given they used this years in the o'meara trade?

Yeah, the restrictions on how often you must use a first round aren't in play yet, so Hawthorn are free to trade their future first if they want to.

As for the Wallace/Barrett conspiracy theory... at this point Tony Sheehan's Las-Vegas-massacre-was-an-inside-job could be the most credible story the AFL media's run with this trade period.

According to the Herald Sun, the limitations don't come into play until 2019, so yes Hawthorn could trade next years first round pick if they wanted to.

EVERY AFL club is free to trade its future first-round pick in this year’s exchange period. The Herald Sun has clarified future-pick trading rules and the league has for the first time released its formal guideline document. It had been widely believed that every club must use two first-round draft picks in every rolling four-year cycle. But the rule addresses trading a future first-round selection only when a club has used fewer than two first-round picks in the past four drafts. Even then, clubs can apply to the AFL for an exemption. And according to the October 2015 document, Determination for the trading of future draft selections, the first four-year block will not come into effect until the 2019 exchange period. The delayed introduction of future trading rules was so as not to prejudice clubs’ existing long-term list strategies. Exemptions will be determined based on the age of players brought in through trades and what draft picks the club has used.

Dodongo read the AFL website. It was reported they believe someone approached St.Kilda about using 2 later picks to get one of their picks and it's unlikely we'll use 1 to get both of them. Dodongo thinks we'll be trading 18 and 19 for 7 or 8 as St.Kilda look to be open to it. Dodongo also realises they read Bigfooty and probably deduced that from here.

It might be more likely that we trade pick 12 and 18/19 for pick 7. Possibly with something else coming back from the Saints.

I think if we're flagging to other teams that we want to get into a particular part of the draft rivals will expect us to give up a bit of value to make that happen.

Collingwood delisted Lachie Keefe. I will miss having him offered to us in trades by Collingwood supporters.

Goodbye sweet prince.

Now they'll have to start offering us Aish...

Rumour that Hodge, Hartung and Whitecross met with Brisbane officals / where in Brisbane today?
Ricky Nixon apparently saw them boarding a flight to Brisbane or at least he reported it on his twitter. He has some sources but half the time he's on the money the other half he's baked.

Ox saying Schache to the Hawks.

I heard it, I think Groo2 is correct. They were sort of implying that Fagan, Clarkson and Hodge could have colluded for Hodge to retire so that we would not be able to sign him as a FA, and therefore not impact the FA compensation for Rocky. Ox then through it out there "imagine if the Hawks now picked up Schache on the cheap"... ie, Hawks get Hodge to retire in return for a favorable trade for Schache.
It's all just bullshit conspiracy theory crap anyway to fill the airways and Ox was just spit-balling for fun - there's so many variables in the equation it's entirely implausible.

Schache re-signed on June 8, Hodge resigned 1 month later June 9 (about round 16), it's unlikely we would have been fully aware of Rocky's intentions at that point (though quite possible it was known).

They did change their tune through the conversation though - first they seemed to be accusing the Lions of rorting the system, but by the end the were congratulating the Lions for utilizing a loophope.

Wallace again proved himself to be a tool at this time of year, suggesting Rocky's compensation would be cancelled out by signing Hodge, and in the next breath saying Hawthorn would receive no compensation for Hodge. Signing Hodge does not equal losing Rocky.
